I know many of us have been racking our brains trying to figure out whether we can pick up another center that’s playoff eligible. This article sorts a lot of that out and it looks like at least from this piece that we can in fact add somebody. The question is how do we open up the roster spot? I wonder if there’s a way to get an injury exemption for either Beal or Yanic without losing their rights? We can’t waive Beal because then we’re stuck paying him 5 million bucks for nothing and he’s a tradable asset or even possibly a usable asset next year. One way or another it would be great for us to get some insurance at that position. Seems like Boucher is still available. Bamba would be better than nothing at all and Tony Bradley appears available although I’m not sure what his health status is.

Hope IJax is OK and it was great to see DG get back in there after the ankle tweak. But I’m guessin both guys sit vs. the Bux. And, you can argue that we should have intentionally lost the game for the pick but our guys battled hard for that comeback and they didn’t wanna squander that effort. But what a strange yo yo ending. Those were Huff’s first FTs of the game but that first shot was a clear long brick. I guess you have to talk to those who really know how he shoots them to have a feel if those were truly Huff type shots or variants. As to the other weird ref calls and no time expiring, on that one in bounds play, the foul apparently happened BEFORE the ball was passed in. That could happen.

I was listening in the car when the Huff foul was called — we’re up one — and I just figured it was over and left. Very surprised when I found out the result later.

As to resting the guys in the next few days, it depends if the 7th spot could realistically be had but even so, the FO has to make a call as to which of the top 2 is the better match up for us. IMHO, they’re both super tough. The goal has to be making it out of the play in with 7/HCA preferred (assuming Blazers falter–their fans are pretty resigned ATM).

I invite everyone to rewatch this game so Darius can be given his proper flowers. Yes Kawhi was the Minotaur and hit the game winner but DG carried this team all night. What was a bit surreal is how low key the broadcast crew was even as he hit nuke after nuke and brilliant dime after dime. I loved that trade the instant it was rumored and this kid is already a hybrid of Steph and Kyrie. Kawhi and him are like the ideal Batman and Robin. Benn is only 80% of what we need from him but if he levels up that other 20% watch out. If Lopez can sustain this level of play and Collins regains his pre-injury form we are going to be a serious problem in the first round.

Portland loses so if we can win Sunday we might be able to seal the deal Tuesday night. That would be a 3 game lead plus tie breaker with like 6 games left. Decent chance we can rest guys the last couple games of the season.

Jackson with sprained ankle. Perhaps a blessing in disguise since perhaps lights a fire under Collins to play better. Plus more of sanders presumably.
