Like I wouldn’t even trade Luke for him straight up – he’s arguably better/more consistent than Luke, but he’s also older and doesn’t fill our big man/rebounding needs.

But Preston/Boston/Moose is a nice young nucleus. They won’t boast star potential like many lottery picks. But if in a few years, 1 or 2 of them can become our rotational players, like Mann & Coffey has done. That’s really good outcome.
This season shape up to be a nice one. Guys are ready and they looks happy and excited to play with each other.
Let’s see how it goes.

“I still feel like Bassey has untapped potential to be a solid rotation big in this league, it just wasn’t going to happen here.”

“I’m not sure why seemingly everyone thinks Bassey is a rotation worthy NBA player. Dude has shown nothing since being drafted. I think he still has potential, but that is all it is.”

“not only has he not been good in the NBA, he declared and withdrew TWICE for the NBA draft then almost didn’t get drafted. He’s either very stupid, very lazy or very undisciplined because that’s the only way someone with his talent goes through all the gyrations he’s been through to start an NBA career.”

“I envision Bassey having a Richaun-like career path. He’ll shine on a crappy team and cash in before everyone realizes he’s just a vet-minimum guy.”

“I think both guys will be able to find jobs with other NBA teams without much problem.”

“Bassey has not shown any real growth. His forgettable Summer League performance did not help.”

“I don’t believe that Bassey would be an option to use in high leverage games.”

The main thing I’m going to watch for in the next 4-5 months leading up to the trade deadline is a dumpster fire team opening up an opportunity for us to do a consolidating trade. I really thought we were going to trade for bogdonovic. We definitely had the pieces to get that done and the fit generally made sense. Maybe the FO is waiting for a bigger target or specifically, a center.

When someone plays as good as Whiteside did last year and still doesn’t have a contract going into September, I always just figure they have something behind the scenes worked out.

I thought the hole at backup C for the Clips and Whiteside being unsigned, just started to really look glaringly convenient from both sides. But now we’re basically past training camp and the regular season is starting in a week. Definitely doesn’t seem like anything is coming to fruition there.

I hope the Clips take advantage of a guy like Bassey suddenly being available, even though it’s right before the season starts. Especially since he’s 2-way eligible, it’s not a big commitment. But even that seems like a stretch at this point. I guess they can get 10-20 games into the season and reassess the situation.

Maybe next summer at the very earliest, and even then they’re probably firing the coach, GM, trading everyone else besides KAT and Ant before giving up on Gobert.

I don’t think they can waste another KAT year, and I imagine they want to give Edwards a good system to grow into. If I were them, and it’s not working, I would definitely pull the trigger quickly to get the team roster balance right.

Roster wise, they really only gave up Beverley and Malik Beasley for Gobert. The picks were substantial, but that just means they are in less of a position to lose games. With Gobert clogging the paint and KAT not being the strongest perimeter defender, they might see complete stagnation.

So, back to the drawing board jbugs.
