Haha, I know this is probably a joke, but imagine them making it from 10 seed, to earning the 8th in the play-in, then beating the 1 seed, that would have to be the craziest run into the playoffs ever. No matter how bad Clips played against New Orleans, I’d take playing them over Utah or Phoenix anyday.

Cuban: “In a regular season of 82 games where we aren’t playing 30-plus games in six weeks, then it might have been OK,” Cuban said. “But the compression of so many games into so few days makes this an enormous mistake.”

LeBron: “Whoever came up w/ that [play-in] shit needs to be fired.”

The notable thing is that Cuban voted in favor of the play-in, and didn’t voice any concerns until the Mavs were in the 7th seed at the time of his quote, and although we don’t know how LeBron voted, he also didn’t voice any problem w/ it until the last week or two, when it became obvious that the play-in could be an issue for the ailing Lakers.

Draymond: “But I’ll be 100 percent honest with you: Fighting for a play-in spot does not motivate me…I want to win every game I play in because I hate losing. That shit really bothers me. So, that’s what motivates me – not fighting for some play-in spot. I don’t really give a damn about the play-in spots to be honest with you.
I just want to win every time I step on the floor.”

I don’t like Draymond, but I got no issue w/ his take on the play-in – it doesn’t seem self-serving and intellectually dishonest in the same way that Cuban and LeBron’s gripes were.

Haven’t really paid attention to the anti play in tourney arguments. Imagine that it would go something like this: “Hey, it’s a long ass season and it would be unfair for all our efforts to be reduced to one or two lousy games when who knows what health issues a team mite have at that time.” Have these anti people voiced better ones?

The lack of honesty is the issue. I wouldn’t have taken umbrage w/ LeBron or Cuban if they would’ve just kept it real and said “we didn’t think we’d have to worry about the play-in – our expectations were that we’d finish w/ a top 6 seed – but now that we may have to play extra games we aren’t looking forward to it.” But instead they tried to argue that the system itself that they agreed to was somehow to blame – fucking crybabies, man. Classic “flip over the table” when you’re losing at Monopoly move, reserved for 6-yr olds.

For what it’s worth, I actually don’t have a problem w/ Draymond saying he wouldn’t be motivated by the play-in, at least he isn’t lying about it.
