Despite the shot, he moved good & had several good defensive possessions, when he tried.. I can see him having a great year if his shot drops at a decent clip.. I know everyone is looking forward to Mann breaking out but I see Winslow being that guy! Gonna be fun watching both though

Hartenstein played with better talent, which is probably why he looked better (felt he looked better also), but I liked his sz, over Giles, more than anything.. Giles looks more like a 4 than a 5

Shout out to Scrubb! He wasn’t too involved offensively but he looked good defensively.. Had a few steals & seemed like he was constantly getting his hands on the ball

Looking forward to watching the youngsters these next 3 games! Sucks that we’re only getting 4 pre season games

Especially with the added penetrators like Bledsoe, Winslow, and more playing time for Mann this year, just feels like it’s going to be ever more important to have a reliable release valve.

I’ve really lost confidence in Coffey making open corner 3’s. I felt like Bledsoe kicking out to Coffey, just wasn’t a good shot for the team. He shot great with the big club last season, but his much larger sample size in the G-league was not promising, his shooting with the big team the year prior was not great, and his 3-pt shooting so far this year in summer league and one preseason game has been just bad. Meanwhile, King was a 40% 3-pt shooter in college, 40% shooter in 3 summer league stints, 45% shooter in Europe, and 43% shooter in the G-league. Just seems like he’s been a solid shooter at every spot he’s landed and has a pretty long track record of being a great shooter. Yea there is a huge question mark as to why a 27-year old hasn’t stuck in the NBA if he’s such a good shooter, but I mean he was drafted in 2018, with a lot of lost game time due to COVID in the years since, so it’s not like he’s been given much opportunity.

At least something I think to monitor the remainder of the preseason.

Boston intrigues me especially on the defensive side with his length. Showing he’s not afraid to play with the big boys already is a great sign. I hope Nico he’s taking padawan classes from Nico.

I could easily see him sliding into a 6th man microwave scorer role early in his career.

As for the Hartenstein vs. Giles thing, you’re absolutely right about the box score, but I do think the eye test is far more important in evaluating preseason than the box score, as the results don’t matter. Hartenstein looked a lot better than Giles to me.

And I don’ think Coffey is a “lock”, but 12 minutes of George King in preseason garbage time is probably not enough to sway the Clips. We will see though

I was worried it was something disciplinary or just wasn’t ready to play, so glad to hear it was a legitimate reason. I think in the box score he was just listed as DNP-CD. Given the interest in Bones Hyland by some Clipper fans, I was hoping to see Keon vs. Bones, but I don’t think that would’ve gone in Keon’s favor no matter how well he could’ve played. Bones looked like a legitimate scorer already, and wouldn’t be surprised if he’s this year’s Immanuel Quickley (although that’s probably a high goal to set based on one preseason game). Luckily for the Clips, Boston continues to look like 1st round talent as well.

Hartenstein vs. Giles, interestingly, I definitely agree that when watching the game I felt like Hartenstein was the clear leader of the pack, but looking at the box score it might tell a different story. Giles had more points (barely), way more rebounds, one of the only guys with a positive +/-, and fewer turnovers. But yea, really felt like Hartenstein had better chemistry, better passer, and just knew where to be offensively to get easy baskets. They both need to keep the TOs down. Game 1 has to go to Hartenstein though.

I also started wondering if Coffey is a lock for that 2-way spot. He was horrific in summer league, and not great tonight. I mean he’s earned a long leash given his success with the big club for these years, but George King looked good in this one, and his shooting stats at every level are impressive. I think they opened up 2-way contracts for 4th year guys too, so technically Giles/Hartenstein could be eligible for a 2-way spot should they choose to keep both?

Those Agua Caliente Clippers games are going to be exciting.
