But a defense can look a lot better when the officials let them mug dudes w/o calling a foul – unfortunately the difference between a great defensive play and a horrible one is often a whistle.

He couldn’t have even seen the contact or lack thereof. He was completely calling the foul based on Harden’s reaction. So basically the ref is basing his call on only the theatrics.
