For this particular season, I don’t think HCA really matters all that much with the Covid restrictions on capacity still going on. If it were a normal season, I would agree that any team that losses the 1st two games of a series on its home floor is most likely going to lose that series. Lets see what happens on Friday. If Clips win …. then this series is still very much in play. If not, then the FO needs to get on the phone to see what they can get for PG13 prior to the NBA draft. If I were the FO, my 1st call would be to the Knicks.

1) It happens much less frequently when the team with HCA loses the first 2 on their home court.

2) the times when #1 happens often is due to a key player on the other team getting injured

3) if not #2 then would have to be a dramatic adjustment made by head coach of 0-2 team. Do we really trust T. Lue to figure this out AND the team to execute the new plan flawlessly? Because that’s what it’s going to require…

After reading this article you either have to conclude that either the Clippers players are dumb as hell or that the coach is confusing the fuck out of them and doesn’t know what he’s doing. Or maybe it’s a little bit of both.

Either way unless T. Lue dramatically simplifies this defensive scheme AND gets the right lineup of smart strong defenders in the game to execute it then a disastrous 1st round exit is a done deal. And it might even be too late anyway even if they do pull that off because now the margin of error is winning 4 of 5 against a really good team with a top 3 talent running the show. So, even if we clean up all the clusterfuck that is our defense it’s hard to imagine winning 4 of next 5 vs. Dallas.

So then the question becomes:

1) does Kawhi stick it out or bolt?
2) if yes then do we fire T. Lue? (I almost don’t see how you can’t given this horrific defensive scheme was his idea), and we also just wasted 2 years of Kawhi’s prime.
3) if no do we blow it up and trade PG for what picks and youth we can get back and go full rebuild? At which point you also must fire anybody who was in any way related to Clipper draft picks (JRob, Fi, Oturu) over the last 3 years.
