They don’t have enough offensive firepower and require Jokic to put up ridiculous numbers to win tough games. His 27-20-10 performance vs the Lakers has only been done 8 times in playoff history. He’s done it 4 times (so, yeah, he’s getting into that all time great convo if he keeps this up a few more years). But if you can imagine the bodies that the T-Wolves can throw at him and what we can do with Zu + the firepower we have, those 2 teams can wear him down without having to double team, which means Denver would need to shoot contested shots and either Murray goes incandescently hot or they get beat. The Lakers are a talented team but they’re a dumb team. Even if the Phoenix Suns manage to get into the second round vs Denver, Denver will have trouble with that firepower (though I think they’d figure out how to beat Phx). Yet, the Lakers have held significant double digit leads @Denver over 2 games. I think that tells us something.

The Knicks-Sixers game was compelling from start to finish but that last 40 seconds was absolute mayhem. Incredible finish. In both of these games, the Sixers go through stretches where they look like they have the better talent and execution at both ends, but the Knicks are straight up dawgs. They come after you and the ball on every play. Hartenstein was probably the game MVP today. He saved Brunson and DiVincenzo, made a bunch of floaters and out rebounded the entire Philly team by himself. Who did we give him up for again?

Thibs has to do more to get Brunson loose. He isn’t getting Batum and other lengthy defenders off him. He really should try a lineup with Bogdanovic and DiVincenzo on the floor with Anunoby and Hartenstein, open the spacing and make the Sixers pay for overplays or traps on JB. Hart has been outstanding in these first 2 games but the Sixers are ok with him taking shots so long as they keep Brunson shooting below the Mendoza line.

The Lakers-Nuggets game was something else. Lakers blow another big lead. AD with an another second half disappearing act; some calls that actually went against the Lakers and Murray playing a terrible game but also one of the most clutch performances you’ll ever see. Lakers season might be over after that loss. I have a hard time believing Denver is going to keep shooting this poorly.

They looked vulnerable, AD was utterly dominant, LeBron playmaking, they took Murray out the game, limited Gordon, KCP was off and they have no bench, add incredible shotmaking by LeBron in the 4th…

And they found a way to stop AD, found their defense, got Murray going and Joker not only matched AD, he dominated in the second half. Jokic always finds a way, Denver always finds a way. The only luck they had was LeBron missing the final 3. Couldn’t have been more impressive otherwise

Title goes through Denver, Lakers didn’t take their chances. I think we’re the only team in the West that can stop Denver

About the team’s attitude, one of our guys mentioned that PG’s postgame comments revealed their confidence in being able to play at high level without Kawhi.

PG and Harden are at point of their careers where they just need to let the game come to them and let the Force flow (it will be May the 4th soon).
