The defense… oh man, THE DEFENSE! Bravo JVG! Not only are the good defenders defending, but Harden, Powell, and KPJ are active and getting steals! The defense alone is worth watching the Clippers for. Playoffs or no, this will be a fun team to watch.

It might not be fair to judge off preseason, but The Wall seems to be pretty lame also. Nothing compared to LAFC, which is what it is trying to replicate.

The jumbotron is spectacular. The outside court is pretty epic as well.

The concession stands are super generic and not exciting.

So great to see the Clippers tho. Yes, it’s preseason, but Batum looks awesome and I love watching Harden play too. Zubac also looks amazing. Clippers should be solid this year even without Kawhi playing much.

Strengths:
– Athleticism
– Doesn’t foul
– Shot blocking

Weaknesses:
– Screening
– Rebounding (doesn’t box out well)
– Catching passes in traffic

Pretty good for a 3rd string center. We’ll see how bad Bamba is to compete for the backup big spot.

Some glitches with the Halo Board, but they’ll get those worked out.

Won’t make too many comments on the game, but two players stood out:

Porter Jr – (behavior and ethics aside), he was very active and effective. Quick, good moves, quick decisions, finished well generally. But he also made some dumb decisions. Drove the lane into impossible odds and failed. More good than bad; he’ll be an exciting player but also frustrating at times.

Dunn – I liked him tonight. He has very active hands, two steals but additionally disrupted other players.

For instance, a play mid second DJJ rolled to basket and Norm popped out to make the rainbow.  Pick ur poison. 

Great job by Lue and his team! 

Kai once again looked like a raw but impactful asset. This is the best Dunn has looked and if KPJ can sustain this trajectory (and not do something stupid off court) he can fill the void as 6th man while Norm starts. Does Nico even age? Crazy how spry he still is. Amir is so reliable and solid now. It’s great to see.

It’s going to get a lot tougher against real nba competition but the energy is pretty exciting. We have a pretty brutal opening few games but perhaps we can settle into an identity thereafter.

Definitely in Tigger mode now.

Excited about the young guys.

Big question. Will Tucker be watching from home?

I also liked Harden’s willingness to step up the pace and push the ball forward. With rangy guys like DJJ, it’s a natural fit for T-Mann as he’s the type to always look up the floor and get the defense on its heels.

The challenge will be finding the offensive combos when Kawhi is out. They’re going to need more shot volume and possessions to compete with a Dallas which has big time scorers in Luka and Kyrie.

I do like this squad, however. I think they will be a fun watch this season. If one believes the Intuit Dome will be the ultimate Clipper curse breaker, then one could envision a healthy Kawhi Leonard and a wily, cunning James Harden leveraging the athleticism and defense of this group with some timely shooting to make a strong playoff run.

Kai Jones has kinda won me over. He has a great attitude and dude runs the floor hard. He makes adjustments game to game and knows how to dunk. Would really like to see Jordan Miller get floor time early in the regular season.
