And how when you aren’t down both your centers, suddenly rebounding looks decent.

I remember earlier this year, it really felt like they needed Luke or even Brandon Boston on the court at all times, because no one else were the type of offensive players to carry the team. Luckily Coffey has stepped into a much bigger role, but really Luke might be a top 2 important offensive piece on this team, over someone like Reggie or Morris.

A bit worrying they keep falling behind, so I feel like I shouldn’t get too excited, but I don’t see a reason why this team without PG and KL can’t go 0.500 the rest of this trip, and really until PG (and KL) gets back.

I’m watching his first half minutes last nite and I could not fathom what was happening. It was like someone paid him off to play crappy so clips would lose. Forget about bad shots, it was more about dumb ass passes that any college player wouldn’t make. Is it just about the grind of the pro game, playing so many games that guys just get worn out? Tell me please.

It looks like he cools off a bit with Coffey surging.
But his mid range pull up is legit now and that will be useful when needed.
Fully healthy, T-Mann/PG/Coffey/Kawhi/Batum sounds like a fun line up.
All can defend, rebound, shoot and create both for themselves and for teammates.
All we need, as always, is health.
At this point, we may look to manage Coffey’s rising minutes to keep him fresh for whole season. He is quite important now.
This season has a lot of stuffs to be unfolded. Let’s see how it goes.

I’d like it if we didn’t have to go down double digits before the guys start playing though lol. But hey, a win’s a win, and this one puts us ahead of the Lakers for now. Takeaways:

  • It’s the same issue for Reggie as it is for MM – we don’t need either of them to have monster nights (e.g. 20+ pts on efficient scoring) for us to win, but we need them to have higher floors. The only reason the Clips win this one despite Reggie at one point being 1-9 is because we were playing the Magic. Too many alternating superstar and bench-worthy nights – I’d really prefer a consistent “above average starter” level for these guys. Also obviously hope MM can recover and get his head in the right place after losing his close friend
  • I know it’s been said before, but Bledsoe really is a much better fit w/ the current team w/o Kawhi and PG13 available – there’s plenty of possessions to go around w/o our two all-NBA superstars, so having the ball in Bledsoe’s hands is fine because he’s actually a pretty decent playmaker
  • Luke has kept us afloat w/ his shooting – he’s the only deadeye shooter on the team right now (w/ Coffey and Batum probably 2a and 2b), and the increased spacing is plain as day when he’s out there
  • Mann got back on track towards the end of this game, but he needs to more consistently look for his offense. Defenses aren’t going to respect his pump fake-then-drive move if he only actually shoots like 10% of the time. I still have faith he’ll be a big part of the future, but his growth since last season’s playoffs definitely hasn’t been linear
  • Coffey has been amazing lately, and it’s great to see – always love rooting for homegrown talent, and he’s right there w/ Luke and Mann as our most important young pieces going forward
  • Zu salvaged what was looking like a bad night for him towards the end. He looked like he was on the verge of breaking out w/ those two standout performances against Jokic and Embiid, but Hart has outplayed him in the last couple of games.
  • Serge has looked…not washed, but also not good – he looks like a serviceable 2nd/3rd C, but Hart is a *great* 2nd C, and Justise has been looking like a more than capable 3rd/small-ball C. If we can get an asset for Serge at the deadline, and as long as trading him doesn’t piss off the locker room (especially Kawhi) too much, I think we should look to move him

We’re probably gonna get wrecked by Miami on Friday, but as long as we can keep fighting and stay healthy, I like our chances against Charlotte, Indiana, and maybe even the healthy Lakers afterwards.
