There was nowhere for Jokic to pass the ball and that limited his multiplier effect. He had to be a scorer and his offense wasn’t enough against the Knicks who were pushing the ball hard to the rim and hitting trailing and open 3s. The thing about Denver is that MPJ and Gordon are not alpha dogs. If you’re able to guard them, they’re not going to put up a lot of buckets. It’s really about Murray. He wasn’t good in this game so they got beat. When he is good they win. Knicks also showcased a lot more depth on their bench. Sims and Achiuwa played very well against a bigger Denver front line. Miles McBride brought good offensive pop off the bench.

Brown’s highlight in the G.
Even though stats over there might not mean much, his triple-double means he’s such an all around player.
Big guy who can do that needs to be a good passer and surely he is.
He will step up for the main team one day. The g-league will give him playing time while waiting for a chance.

It’s nearly impossible for a team to go back to back titles with one player being the entire lynchpin of the team. He’s going to wear down here unless they can find a way to get another player to run that team so he can coast more. Murray can light it up but he’s terrible on D and not a floor general.

This is the year for us to break through. Hope they play their cards well.

What happened to KP? Ankle twist? I mean, always wanna beat other teams at full strength. However, Zu is out and PG may very well sit, it’s not as if we’d have an advantage if Porzingis were out, on the road, back-to-back, vs the best home team and at minimum one of the 3 best teams in the league

Their 2 forwards (Randle/Anunoby) are a very tough match up for Denver and really the rest of the league. Knicks are the #4 team in the conference, but I think they could take out any of the 3 teams ahead of them in a playoff series.

Mikal Bridges is a bum. Brooklyn had a shot to tie Minnesota and send the game to OT and he bricks a FT and makes a lane violation that they call even in kids’ leagues to give Minny the game.

If the Clips win tomorrow, they’re the #3 seed over Denver. Porzingis got hurt today, so he might be out vs the Clippers.

The gambling connection is a no-go. Add in rule changes and how they deal with even justified criticism of officiating. What irks me the most though is the artificially inflated scoring and more free throws while neither tolerating a lot of physicality nor competitiveness. It’s a fallacy that more scoring equals a better product. Then all those trips to the line, the lack of flow and every free throw takes 25-30 seconds while the league changed rules but doesn’t enforce them. Everything needs to be streamlined and ‘clean’, at the same time they wanna promote stars. Guess what? Stars are bigger when and because they are different, not more of the same. You want a clean image but sell yourselves out to gambling companies for some extra profit. Want a clean image and have refs decide games rather than the stars you wanna promote and have your and their integrity questioned – to the degree that guys with an actually clean track record and actual integrity call you out publicly, knowing full well they’re gonna get fined for it.

They’re inconsistent and don’t make sense. Except for one consistency of course: money always comes first. When that happens and it doesn’t add up with what you proclaim, a good part of fans will eventually see through it.

Unfortunately, it’s all for nothing because I love the game too much even with all those negatives. The positives still outweigh them but basketball is nowhere near its peak watchability imo.

They will always minimize any disagreements or appearances of impropriety. If you read the game summaries on their sponsored website (NBA.com) they always minimize any reference to disputes and controversies. The site mostly just promotes the NBA superstars.

I believe that refs sometimes simply make bad calls. Not that there is an “acceptable error rate”, but my opinion is that the league will go to bat for the refs and say there’s nothing wrong. That would be admitting that the NBA has flaws, and they simply don’t want that. Adam Silver may internally grumble about bad officiating, but the league won’t take any overt action or make any overt comments.

Just my opinion (yes, it’s nearly a “conspiracy theory” … I admit).

I know we say this every year, but it really does feel like there has been more egregious reffing this season. To the point where I’m openly questioning their integrity, in no small part thanks to the NBA (and the other professional sports leagues) joining hands w/ gambling sites. That Portland loss to OKC was especially galling, so I’m glad Portland is officially protesting the game (even though I ultimately expect nothing to come from it).

As the team is presently constructed I’d rather play GS (but it’s looking like they won’t even make the playoffs) because I think we match up better – Zu/Plumlee/Theis is better than Looney/Saric/???, Wiggins and Draymond are good defensively but trainwrecks on offense, Klay is wildly inconsistent, and we can throw any of Kawhi, PG13, and Mann at Curry.

Meanwhile the Lakers have LeBron and AD who we currently have no great answers for (Nico and RoCo would’ve helped a ton against them).
