I think the data show that when he’s been on the floor for the past 3 years, the Clips have a positive net rating and are one of the better units in the league. His defense also involves a lot of denying options for other teams which don’t get recorded in the stat sheet. This front office has never understood the need to have strong weak side rebounding next to the center who is denying the driving guard/wing while also tracking back to watch the roll man.

SGA will end up being so much better than Kawhi when it’s all said and done and we blew it. We don’t deserve nice things. (We fans do, our FO/ownership do not.)

I think this is a championship level roster, but I just question whether this coach has the mindset and discipline to utilize it correctly.

We know Ty Lue played washed guys who left the NBA fairly shortly after eventually getting cut by the Clippers, most notably John Wall. What was the point of that? It’s not like he can’t see what we all saw (that they’re washed). It’s obvious that Tucker is washed. There isn’t anything he does that Kobe Brown can’t do better. If we really need that kind of support at the backup 5, play him.

Also, there’s no doubt in my mind that Bones Hyland provides value to the Clippers on the floor. He’s an excellent change of pace from Harden and unlike Russ he can stretch the floor with probably the deepest 3 ball on the team. Russ has real value as a backup 3/4/5, but as a backup #1 the data we have tell us that he isn’t effective in the role. In Feb, Russ took 10 shots per game and shot 40% from the field and 21% from 3. In Jan it was 45% and 28% at 10 shots per game. His shots need to go down and rebounds, hockey assists and those types of intangibles to go up. I don’t think he can do that from the backup #1. As an off the ball player, he can add a lot of value. I don’t know why Lue can’t make that adjustment.

The sense I got from the fans in my section is they felt disrespected seeing Tucker on the floor, Plumlee trying to show off, no defensive rebounding in Q4. I think Ty Lue has some major cleanup to do after that game. He probably doesn’t realize just how disenchanted that Q4 performance with Laker fans braying in our faces left Clipper fans.

Zu is a good defender but he’s not DPOY-level where he can anchor it by himself.

I love the kid and he’s really solid. But solid isn’t enough unless our superstars are being superstars which I have serious doubts about at this juncture.

Looks like Ty is riding on the coattails of his 2016 Cavs title and our miraculous WCF run.

…I realize that’s an exaggeration, but I’m very, very pissed off.
