Trae Young going for so low a price while Desmond Bane went for an expensive package has has thrown the concept of NBA value into flux.

If this persists they may have to do something to remedy it. Zu and DJ for Hartenstein plus our pick back works. Despite how disappointing we’ve been that pick will not fall lower than the high teens and is only worth anything to us so I could see this deal materializing. We could then tank and get into the lottery and possibly reboot this mess with a young star. They would not only be getting Zu but a legit three a D SF which they are also missing. These two clippers fit seamlessly into what they need.

Hart would be a moveable asset this summer too.

But LAC’s bench was 4-20. And 17 of those shots were 3 point shots. Need to find a better way to use your bench.

The best thing Ty Lue could do to optimize the remainder of the season would be to limit Dunn’s mins to 15, open up more floor time for Sanders/Miller/Bogi and to phase Lopez out of the rotation.

With Trae Young going for such a cheap price, a potential value buy opportunity is Malik Monk. That might complicate the plans to develop Sanders/Miller, but if the team wants to win a lot of games now, Monk’s scoring punch would come in handy and he’s only 27.

You really can’t complain with your big 3 getting 20+ pts each and John Collins having a fine game as well.

LAC just got nothing out of Dunn and Lopez and didn’t play Sanders/Miller/YKN enough.

Kawhi was just brilliant in the first half and had the entire NYK defense on skates. Zu’s presence as the weak side/back door threat kept bigger defenders off him and Kawhi just cooked in the midrange.

James played an entertaining game but had a few too many TOs. Collins was all over the place and provided great energy. Zu was excellent at both ends and has quickly adjusted to where Kawhi is at with his game.

The game turned when Tony Brothers hit Zu with his 3rd foul off what I thought was good defense against Towns. NYK also got more aggressive with Kawhi. We then didn’t have enough offense to compete and NYK’s role players like Clarkson and Yabusele got big buckets to go along with Towns’ aggression and Brunson’s methodical carving up of the defense to take a lead. Kawhi just didn’t have enough on the offensive end in the 2nd half to make up for the fact that LAC didn’t get bench scoring.

I think the team is playing a lot better, but if they’re going to make a run at .500 or better they need to make a real move to sit Lopez down in favor of YKN and diminish Dunn’s minutes to give more space and mins for Sanders/Miller to grow into their roles. I do believe that if YKN had the backup mins at center and Dunn was at 15 mins with the extra 10 mins going to Sanders/Miller that LAC would’ve made this a 1-2 possession contest with 2 mins to go. The team needs offense out of the 2 guard spot more than it needs Dunn’s defense.
