The Lakers schedule is crazy tough. The play OKC twice, Houston twice, Dallas w/AD and GSW.

Clippers have a soft schedule. They play 3 teams with a winning record and 2 of them at home. They should go at least 7-3, but 8-2 or better is more likely imho.

Memphis is floundering after firing Jenkins. All we really need is for Minnesota to lose a few more games and a top 6 slot becomes very likely. The #4/5 slot are there for the taking.

Taylor Jenkins fired. Shocking. Probably stupid move on the part of the Grizz. If Lawrence Frank had any stones, he’d go to Ballmer in the offseason and ask him to hire Jenkins and part ways with Lue. Doubt it would happen, but the constant passive aggressive tug of war between management and and Lue has held the franchise back.

I would still start Norm b/c I don’t trust that he wouldn’t pout if moved to the 2nd unit after he should’ve made the all star team. As the NYK game showed, although he isn’t a great fit in a lineup with a healthy Kawhi, he can still come up with 3 or 4 bucket spurts which can provide separation. You still need to be able to get that out of him b/c in playoff games that stuff really matters.

However, Bogi should be on the court to close games, and he should be playing at least 28 mins. If that brings Norm’s minutes down a bit, so be it.

A big contributor to the ratings dropping imo is the utter lack of play by play announcing esp on nationally televised games. it’s like the execs, seeing how popular Inside the NBA is, are trying to turn the in-game coverage to a live version of that with an occasional remark about what is happening in the game. It sucks.

Nothing generates excitement like great play by play announcing. Chick Hearn, Ralph Lawler and other old schoolers created the league’s audience. I find current in-game broadcasters banal and boring. They should replace current play by play guys with their radio counterparts.

Apologies to the Mavs players (but not their FO – fuck Nico), but a Mavs team w/ a hobbled AD and missing Kyrie feels like a waste of a play-in spot. I hate the Suns but at least they have the theoretical talent to make things interesting.
