On the brightside, we’ve been competitive without both guys–no blow outs and even won one on the trip. The coaches (and Balmer–courtside as always) can now see where to tweak. Bev seems to be close but he alone won’t fill PGs missed scoring. Have to give 2Pat a look who was good when he started. I’d look for less Reggie and more Luke/Mook.

As to the Kawhi iso stuff, coaches got to implant the share the rock gene like yesterday. Our chances improve with good shots from a role player vs. a KL contested heave vs. the double team. Walton made the smart/obvious move to double KL and it gave the sacto guys the W. Teams facing us now will all expect to beat us with a key guy out, even the basement dwellers. KL can expect double teams on steroids. Clips can compete and win a fair share not by playing harder but by playing smarter.

I’d rather save Lou for his traditional bench scorer role, and run out a Kennard/Mann/Kawhi/Batum/Serge starting 5. The only issue becomes the Lou/Reggie pairing, which…is less than ideal, but could be mitigated with some staggering of Kawhi and Mann to help out on defense.

Frustrating since the past two games were winnable. Also frustrating to see that stat where we’ve had the most noon games of any team but that’s why the Inglewood stadium is such a priority.

I agree with the lineup shakeup. Start Lou. I like the closing lineup of Lou, Kawhi, Batum, Mook and Zu.

Kawhi looked tired out there today.
He got outplayed down the stretch by Fox in this one and Tatum against Boston, and that was the difference in both these losses. I think he’ll be back to his dominant ways in the long run, but he and the team as a whole needs to stop running iso-ball in crunch time, especially w/ PG13 out. W/ both PG13 and Kawhi healthy we can survive some stagnant iso-ball because defenses can’t key in on just one of them, but w/ PG13 out right now Kawhi can’t go 1 vs 3 and just expect to bully his way to the rim and/or hit a contested fade-away jumper.

On the bright side, the role players stepped up big time today. MM and Reggie shot well, Zu has been in a zone, and Lou is looking better. Luke…I don’t know how to fix Luke. I was encouraged by his attacking the rim today, but it always feels like he could be doing more – just gotta hope he finds his groove eventually I guess.

First back to back losses, it was bound to happen.

I see a few positives in that and our recent games (Post PG injury).

1) Zu has improved a lot. Rebounding particularly!
2) Lou feels more like old Lou. Moves well, scores, passes and defends a bit.
3) Mann is making a case for minutes. Maybe not as the sole PG but he brings a lot of energy.
4) Morris is starting to score a bit better, wish he improved his rebounding a bit as well.

It’s true that Batum and Kawhi appear a bit out of gas but they have had a higher load. Batum played 38min against BKN and 39min against BOS. Same for Kawhi with 39 and 37 min.

We will adjust to PG’s absence, it’s a big loss but hopefuly he’ll return soon.

Another tough loss, for sure. But expected given the situation. I do like the idea of lineup changes cuz it’s time. This will prove if Lue is Doc 2.0 or not. Demote Reggie, promote Mann. Sue me for saying this, but some Patterson scoring mite come in handy. We need to shake things up and pronto as we have to assume help is not on the way.
