We have an actual ship on our merchandise. Unis are good too, but I’d actually want to see the logo featured on the uniforms.

I defended the overall game and how he’s criticized and how irrational the takes get relative to others. 3-10 is one stat. There’s also the much better defense (that in itself warranted more playing time), the energy and not the least: Russ had a net plus minus of +34 to Harden’s -36. So the better question is: why in the world did Harden play that much and Russ so little? Could have replaced other guys as well but Harden was the obvious one in this game

The team was BY FAR at its best with him on the court, the defense was far better, the turnovers were much lower. While it’s a valid point of criticism, what’s the individual shooting stat worth against all the overwhelming positives? Team lost in part because of minutes distribution

I would say on this site PG13 gets the most wraith and justifiably so, but everyone not named Zu and Powell have been crappy lately. Russ is not saving us. At 4 million he is not expected to. When I made the Shaq’ting a fool comment I believe Russ had two immediate misses right out of the gate. He just went 1-9 in SF ooooooooh 2 games ago.

Actually a fan. I have your rookie card man. Can you please play twelve minutes or less and only shoot when you absolutely have to? Thanks

Definitely finishing issues. I don’t understand why you are making an effort to defend that. It’s not good enough.

Denver had a rough patch before the AS break but played a very smart defensive game against Curry and GSW today. Teams go through rough patches. It happens. For the Clips, I think the issues are more on the offensive side of the ball than the defensive side, but we need more of a consistent philosophy on defense. We’re trying to pick and choose who we leave open and who we run out against, when to go under/over a screen. Guys like Coffey looked very confused out there. If you leave guys open in this league they find a rhythm. You can get tactical when you have to take calculated risks in end of game situations, but for most of the 48 minutes, you should play a sound scheme that players can follow through on.

I think the defense needs to be simplified: Play up and drive people off the 3 pt line. If the other team can’t get 3pt shots off, then we’re gonna win most games. Double on an obvious mismatch off a non-shooter, but otherwise let the match up play out. A contested 2 is better than an open 3 or backdoor cut leading to a dunk.

Sac had that type of mentality tonight. They held Kawhi to three 3PAs, when he’s been shooting a career best. That effort alone might have won the game for them.

But more than that, Harden and Kawhi have to be much more disciplined about moving the ball and making a decision quickly. If a defense wants to overplay at the 3pt line, move it to the sideline and attack from there. That requires the coaching staff to tell Mann/Coffey/Norm/Zu et al to look to shoot a lot. When those guys establish that they’re gonna score, it disrupts the defense.

But at least on 213 I think most of the comments on here have a bit more sophistication than the standard Stephen A Smith-level discourse.

When you blame ONE guy for something where teammates should also have a say (defensive side of those possessions) and you push that narrative so far to make it appear as if that’s always the case (which is already inaccurate), the very least is to hold others to the same standard. Exaggerating and double standards and ignoring the positives and ignoring what’s actually wrong with the team is just stupid.

Harden is not only not held to a higher standard (he takes up 8x as much of cap space, plays in better lineups on average, has consistent minutes and doesn’t play as many different roles), he’s not remotely held to the same standard. Defense, number of turnovers, shot selection, avoidable turnovers, misses, momentum killers – Russ gets scrutinized every single time.

Harden played twice as many minutes at -25, Russ +10. Defense was far better, offense played with better pace and movement, too. Instead of looking at what’s best for the team, we look at one negative with Russ and talk as if they played a similar game. Not in the slightest. But that is what gets lost when you standard A for one player, standard B for another and standard C for everyone else. Sacramento scored 36 points in Russ’ minutes. That’s a 96 point pace for the game. They scored 87 over the other 30, a 139 pace… We scored 46 in his minutes, with better pace, energy and reduced turnovers.

Does the coach buy those narratives, too? Did he think Harden would hit his 3s at the end or get to the line a ton or move the ball or play with better pace? There was an easy fix to give us a chance. It wasn’t for Russ to shoot more, no, but it was most certainly to play more.

–> Russ’ fault that Harden doesn’t play fewer minutes I guess.

The amount of trash narratives going on here, it’s not funny. But I know I’m the bad guy for defending the unpopular player, regardless of how many facts and context supports that. People have become pathetic with regards to taking accountability, in particular when it’s about crapping on human beings on the internet. And it’s regularly the best human beings they try to drag down

I’m saying he was far superior to Harden in the things that don’t show up in the stat sheet and both should have played minutes accordingly. Same goes for PJ to a lesser degree. It’s important how the TEAM plays when an individual is on the court – in the 3rd quarter when they were terrible they needed exactly Russ’ skillset earlier. They needed less Harden, less Kawhi and more role-players tonight, closed both halves terribly with the starters which was to be anticipated because starters were underwhelming to start the game, terrible the rest of the way and HOW they played wasn’t exactly addressed.

Could have gotten so much more out of anyone not named Zu and it wasn’t exact difficult to avoid half the turnovers or defensive lapses they had.
