RoCo getting a week off for birth of his kid is Ok. We should also not get too overboard on our comments. I was rereading my own comment, and I started laughing at myself. This is sports. We have a competitive but inconsistent team. We’re not sure what we are getting for each game. Keep the Pepto or Tums close by, that’s what being a Clippers fan needs this season.
BTW, Luke, you had better take those shots, or Frank is going to trade your ass this summer.

Well, you vented. I don’t think the brass or the team has thrown in the towel. They did for last nite’s game and justifiably so, especially in light ot the recent 3 competitive losses, frequent games, travel and Utah being a tough team and place to play. I fully expect a bounce back game vs Denver and still hold out hope for reinforcements.
We’ve got tough games to play and there’s no telling where we’ll end up. At this point, winning a play in game would be cheer worthy for these guys.

Note to clipper starters:

Just because you have the 8th seed nearly locked up, doesn’t mean you can take a game off here and there. If that’s the case, stay at home “but” relinquish your game checks.

There’s 1 more game against the Jazz but this time in LA. I expect a better effort a 3rd time than getting your butts waxed twice in Utah.

I’m sorry but this listless and frankly bizarre performance by not only the players but the coaching staff deserves a deeper dive than the usual grousing. What I saw tonight was a team that is utterly unserious about competing at all right now which leads me to conclude that they will mail it in the rest of the way. There were signals before this like when Ty snapped at the press when questioned about the health status of PG and Kawhi and it was also a bit cynical that they gave RoCo a WEEK off for maternity leave during a stretch of games that were winnable. I don’t think Ty communicates this pragmatism openly in the locker room but the vibe just trickles down anyway and guys disengage.

The brass has probably already decided to shut down norm, pg and Kawhi for the season and thus want it over sooner than later and with the least amount of energy and stress expended as possible. Look at how hard the Lakers and Nets are fighting right now. Others too. It’s because they believe they can do something.

I mentioned the other day that 9 might be preferable than 8 in some regard if this team knows they can’t beat the wolves in MN. Host one play in game at home instead and let the lakers deal with the wolves. If the Wolves beat them then we still don’t have to get on a plane again. We swept the season series so if they win the play in against us whoop-de-do. If the Lakers beat the wolves then we’re no worse off having to still go to MN and probably lose. At least the whole mess is delayed a game so we can roll the dice.

This team and coaching staff may be burned out and ready to go fishing. We will be a highly favored team to win it all next season so perhaps they’re right. But as a fan who wants to watch more clipper games I hope I’m wrong in my appraisal.

We are truly Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde on these nights. I was mentioning to my wife after the game, when your three best players (Reggie, Mook and Zu) are all playing weirdly and badly, we have little chance against a good Playoff team. I just hope that we don’t have this kind of amnesia during the Play-in Tournament. I agree with one of the PodCast members (Justin?) that there is no guarantee the Clippers make it out of the tournament and to the Playoffs.
