Clips were trying to win a title. Surgery when he first got injured would’ve had him out rest of the season. If there was even a slight hope he could come back by the playoffs, I think you have to take it. I guess he could be upset if it cost him a healthy summer, but for the Clippers, it’s not a big loss for him to rehab most of the summer and miss the first few games of the year.

That being said, he did not look great last night. Let’s hope he’s still knocking the rust off. If he plays a bad as last season, I could easily see Hartenstein pushing for those minutes.

I think Ty was asked after the game about possibly playing Serge at the 4. Think he sounded against it, but as long as Marcus is out, they are running out some pretty small lineups. I probably wouldn’t rule it out against all matchups, especially against the cross hall rivals, although they might be the only team in the league who does play 2 bigs where it might make sense.

No matter what, I’ll take our team depth for this long haul.

The word coming in was that Hart chose the Clips mainly because he felt he could play significant minutes. He’s gonna be a very unhappy puppy if Zu continues to look strong and if Serge finds his game. Hart’s a talented guy tho and so this is what I call a “luxury problem.”

Feel free to let go a little, and have some fun. The Clippers are a feel good story right now, with a 4 game win streak and something like a revenge game coming up, and a lot of storylines played out last night. And if Bledsoe is more funky than complex, we should feel free to say so.

So we’re coming up on the vaunted 10-game thingee. One more chance for Bled, maybe, but it’s almost more painful every game. I give the 10-game trial approach some credit, as I would have started Bled and Kennard after game 5, when the Clippers were 1-4. But patience was rewarded with a Reggie Jackson breakout of sorts, and in the meantime Terence Mann has gotten over his own slow start and it seems completely obvious that he should be in the starting lineup now. The thing about Bled is that he does provide good point of attack defense, starting out on Lamelo last night and he’ll probably be guarding Lillard tomorrow. But TMann can be that guy, and he’s doing about ten other things really well at the same time. It’s not like there won’t be minutes for Bled. And it’s a long season. He’s going to be fine, and I’ve always liked him as a player, but now we need to see what TMann can do in the starting lineup. If this were Doc Rivers, and Bled was Avery Bradley, Bled would be starting for another 50 games, and playing 35 minutes to Mann’s 15. But Lue will change things up, I think, though maybe not tomorrow.

That lineup and rotation change isn’t even the headliner now. What to do with Zu, Hartenstein, and Serge? Serge looked rusty but decent, like it’s going to take him time to get rolling, and it’s hard to say how that’s supposed to work when Hartenstein is out there killing it, Zubac is getting stronger and more confident with every game, and Nic Batum and Clipper small ball is also a solid option–Batum’s 3 pt. shot looks significantly better, in a sort of junior version of Kennard’s improved energy and confidence. Have to see if there are any games/lineups coming up where Hart and Serge or Zu and Serge could be on the court at the same time, but Lue sounded deeply skeptical when he was asked about it. Bledsoe and Serge could be a good backup pairing, but Hartenstein is going to be fighting tooth and nail to keep his minutes, and Serge isn’t close to taking anything away from him yet.

So yeah, good times. Paul George needs to keep the turnovers down to 5 or below, and I didn’t hear anybody mention Bledsoe’s 5 turnovers yet. His shooting is so bad maybe you forget that he throws the ball away? And George lost a little of his mojo, as it wasn’t called for, and he still put up a solid line, turnovers aside. Having seven guys playing well is a lot, Bled might get better quickly in a different role, and Serge can take some time. Best of all, the Clippers have a bunch of guys–George, Mann, Batum, Kennard, Reggie, Zu, Hartenstein, in something like that order–who are fun to watch. And they can keep getting better.

Clips medical team apparently blew it by holding out false hope that he could return when in reality it wasn’t in the cards. As to Mook, ur saying that the med team again blew it by having him play. This is all a bad look, especially from KLs viewpoint of not trusting the Spurs med team. Hey let’s face it, there’s a built in conflict of interest between team and player best interests. Wilsh they were one in the same.

This makes me wonder if the training/medical staff told him to try to play through it last year, and makes me wonder about what the deal was with MM playing to start the season but then “suddenly” needing to “rehab.” We’ve had spats of injuries throughout the years and we as a fanbase have had our own gripes with the training/medical team, and this is just another data point to add to our skepticism.

Anyways, on a cheerier note – LEGIT WIN STREAK! Mann/Kennard look great together, Batum has been amazing, and PG13 just won player of the week. Hope we can continue Dame’s prolonged funk and take care of business tomorrow night.

Bu tsomehow we pulled it out. Don’t think Hornets will let the Lake show outscore them 22-0 tonite, even on a back to back. But have to say that Plumlee makes them pretty average. But who would you rather have: Plumlee or DAJ? Tough call.
As I said a few days ago, TL likes the Mann Luke combo off the bench to lower the kaboom and they did it again. No way Luke shot this well when he was a Piston. He’s maturing before our eyes. How’s that contract lookin now doubters? And Mann’s mid range is a beauty and his 3 ball’s not that far behind. Bled’s game will come. After all, TL was a serviceable PG so he’s got a nice tutor/mentor there.
But there’s one thing I’m looking forward to in a very big way: Serge making his first 3 of the season. It’ll come and when it does the team will explode.

But ideally I’d like to swap that out for Bledsoe in the second until so Terrence can start. Bled has a bit of Westbrook in him to where the risk reward gets mixed results. But I think he would own opposition bench units who are smaller and less talented.. we’ve all been talking about this for awhile so we’ll see if that move eventually happens. Meanwhile I look forward to bled vs Portland and I think he’s ideal again Lowry too. This is a BIG week for us.

A better team would have stomped all over us. We’ll be better with more reps.
Glad to see E. Bled finally make that 3pt shot.
The young core of T. Mann, L. Kennard and I. Zubac were really awesome today.
