The goal ought to be to go 12-4. Do that and the team is at .500. I think it’s possible for the team to go 7-1 over the next 8, but the following 8 games are much tougher.

If the team does reach .500 by the AS Break, then I’d probably keep the team as is because you lose momentum when you bring in new folks and lose old folks and we just don’t have the bandwidth to take a losing streak. In addition, if the team is really playing that well, why break it up? You can make moves in the offseason at that point. Moreover, it takes a long time for Ty Lue to really figure things out with a roster. If you bring in new players he’ll just spend weeks messing up the rotations and it will cost us games.

If we’re still stuck at -7 games under .500 or worse, I’d make a move if it’s available. However, considering that the only games we’ve lost since Dec 15th have been to the defending champs and current #1 seed, the champions of the in season tournament, and the East’s #3 seed, perhaps we should just ride this out and see where it goes.

Who’s looking for expirings to dump a player?

This will be a good test for the revived Clips. They were lucky that Harden went nuts back in game 16, and the Hornets will be much tougher this time out.

I love Knueppel and he’s special. I need to know Brandon Miller better, hope that he’s past being injured, and don’t want him to hurt us. The Hornets are a team I’m rooting for, but I don’t want them to beat the Clippers tonight.

I’ve been following my guy Moussa on the Hornets for a while, wishing him the best, happy to see him getting minutes and making something out of them. His rebounding, defense, hustle and effort clearly would have had value for the Clippers over the two seasons he was on the team, and going forward. When you look at his BBallReference stats and his rising production, the miniscule number of minutes played on the Clippers is glaring. He really never came close to getting his shot. His assists have taken a big jump this year–give Kon credit for that, I expect. It should be interesting to see if he has pushed Kalkbrenner out of the starting lineup, and he can pile up even more minutes.

One at a time–need to get comfortable at home and play with energy and precision and take care of business. The defense is much improved, and the Clippers current starting lineup is solid, needs to assert itself.

If you look at some of LAC’s recent wins, as impressive as they’ve been we’ve been playing teams that have built some advantages already and are in the ‘dog days’ phase of the season. They have early season fatigue, injury management issues, and may be slumping as roster weaknesses are starting to show up (e.g., Houston).

LAC is going to have to play an A game to win tonight. This Charlotte team is better now than the one LAC beat when Harden went off. This is a winnable game, but LAC has no margin for error and has to be on its game.

If the Clippers are really going to make anything of this season, going 7-1 over their next 8 games is pretty close to a necessity.
