Juancho Hernangomez hasn’t had a great career and hasn’t played much this year (the numbers look terrible but in reality he just hasn’t gotten on the floor), but for the last few years he’s been in teams’ rotations at the PF position. Serge is strictly a C at this point.

Perhaps the bigger reason is that Juancho makes 3.7M less than Ibaka, which both factored into the trade math here (Utah created a sizeable TPE today) but also the Jazz’s luxury tax situation, where that $3.7M in salary = about $11M in savings for Utah’s ownership’s bottom line.

Anyway, I would have taken a 2nd to swap Serge/Sato as well, but I don’t think Utah would have preferred that trade to the one they ultimately made happen.
