Oh well, at least Chicago extinguished what little flicker of hope Sacramento had of catching us.

Will they be able to keep pace? I see the 6 spot as a 3 team race—GSW, Clips and TWs — Think Grizz, with a healthy Ja, is out of reach UNLESS we can get them Friday–then they’d be catchable.

Clips have a tough upcoming schedule having to face Memphis, OKC, NYK and Cleveland in the next week, but the Wolves and Grizz might not be able to keep pace.

Now everyone is turning on the Cavs and saying they’re frauds rather than unpack the possibility that we are just that good. I was skeptical about this season because of both Kawhi and Harden’s ages but they are still all world and Zu is going to wreck any team down low now. That’s a helluva big three and I think the best in the league so long as Kawhi can stay healthy. I honestly think last night was better than he looked last year or perhaps many years. He didn’t look this spry even in his Toronto run when he was dragging that leg around. I believe he’s being careful on defense which is smart given his history. That’s the last thing to ramp up. Hopefully he and medical staff got it right this time.

Kawhi, at least for one night, reverted back to the monster we all remember. Harden put Mobley on skates and got to the hoop at will. Zu basically played Allen and Mobley off the floor and I was incredibly encouraged to see Kawhi and Harden go to him when we hit rough patches, especially towards the end of the game – this absolutely doesn’t happen if we had kept George. Norm is looking better, so hopefully he’s back to full strength soon. Bogi was on fire, Ben Simmons passing was huge, and suddenly Nico looks like he’s re-awakened.

I still don’t think we’re really a legit contender, but this upcoming stretch against some of the best in the league will show us all we need to see.

“I was surprised at how scary the healthy Clippers are. Could make some noise, I would not want to face them in the first round if I was OKC. Bogdonovic couldn’t miss, Kawhi is the forgotten All NBA stud and Zubac is a beast, Harden is still crazy skilled”

and

“Clips big scorer Powell didn’t even have an average game, either. But expecting their oldsters to stay healthy thru the playoffs is risky. Still, they’ve got a better chance than the Lakers.”

and

“we played one of the best teams in the NBA. I didn’t watch, but they’ve been floating around 0.500 WITH injuries. Fully healthy, they are a very dark horse coming out of the West.”

BTW, I’ll have the no. 10, The Bogi, please (to the Langer’s waitress).

Not sure that Ty would have been as steady, or stuck with Bogie like that. Foul trouble deserves an assist.

It seems like the rotation will be based on situations and matchups. It’s interesting to have all these tests coming up, which will reveal a lot. I expect to see Dunn starting, just to set the tone against Ja and then SGA, and maybe a couple of his wide open shots will go in. Norm showed some pep and hit a few shots, and it will be good to get him back up to 20+ a game. Bogie is lurking right behind him, and Norm’s minutes could go down a bit, but his 4th quarter scoring was a major weapon before he got hurt, and we should expect to see him get it going again. DJJ is valuable and solid enough that Dunn will get a quick pull if he misses any shots, but DJJ could also be the starter. And Batum is a strong option as a starter too. The distinctions are subtle and it’s really complicated.

Bogie and Simmons are really fun and interesting. It feels like the Clippers are a million miles advanced from the KPJ era, just a painful memory now. The strong bench play last night showed that there’s a possibility that Harden’s minutes could take a decent little dip, though that’s a bit hard to imagine when the games are all so challenging. It could work though, and it would be good to be able to lighten the load in the month before the playoffs start.
