As someone who’s been critical of Zu & his effort (mostly the 1st half of the year), he’s not someone you can trade.. Nor is he someone that’s gonna make you better if traded.. You need his size & length for all the contenders with the exception of the Nets but even then

Zu was bad early but changed his demeanor & played harder in the 2nd half, which is all you ask for..

My issue with he & Serge is that when they drop, they don’t make an effort to even contest shots.. That can be the shot you want them to take but you can still make it difficult for them.. The last thing you want is to give guys & teams hope early on.. Now you have them playing with confidence & you’re forced into a tight game late.. A game that shouldn’t have been close to begin with.. Luckily PG got hot late & shut the door.. I just don’t agree with giving the opponent the exact shots they want that’ll help them get into a rhythm

I get it, as do folks like you who actually watch the games.. It’s the folks who DON’T watch & rely on the stats & the +/- specifically that irritate me when trying to talk about games or players..

As for Sr. he does need to do a better job on the boards but the entire team does.. For the most part, not sure what the stats say, I think they rebound as a team pretty good though.. Serge & Zu have done a much better job rebounding the past 10 games or so..

I’m not here to defend Zu. He has been playing way below his potential. Trading him now, though, would be selling pretty low. This team hasn’t changed that much from last year. Someone has to figure out why Zu has been so much worse.

+/- is the starting point of analysis, not the end point. It’s where you go “hmm, that’s an interesting piece of data, I wonder why that happened.” Too often, people take it to the end point of evaluating a player based on his +/-.

On a night like tonight, I’d bet Morris’ +/- has more to do with a bit of a bad luck with his minutes correlating to stretches where Cleveland was hitting more of their middling-efficiency floaters and the Clippers were missing good looks from three. It’s a bit of a stretch to attribute either of those things to Marcus’ presence, though.

I do think he needs to do a better job on the defensive glass on the second unit. Especially when the star on the floor is PG and not Kawhi, Marcus should strive to be the second-best rebounder on the floor for LAC.
