I’ve been writing that from the moment he was traded to the Clippers. 4 steals. That’s pretty good defense.

The offense is quicker and the ball moves quickly with Bones as lead guard.

So what does Lue say after the game? He’s gonna have George handle more of the point guard tasks. Is he serious? It’s foolish and completely unnecessary when we have Bones.

Last night was proof that the less ball handling by George the better the results. Catch and shoot it all night long. No unnecessary drives through 5 players. Pass and shoot. Catch and shoot.

Lue needs to play Bones going forward.

How many times do you play 23 seconds of good defense only to give up a lucky last second shot! So T Mann defends DDR well but another player hits a miracle shot; and Mann’s defensive stays suffer.

I recall taking a Stats class in college and the assigned reading was entitled: “How to Lie with Statistics.” Enough said.

By my count he was matched up on DeRozan 6 times and forced 2 TO and no shots were taken. He also did a really good job fighting through screens. I think he gave up only 1 jump shot attempt (which was made) by Carter, but then came back a few possessions later to go over a screen, guard him tight and force a TO.

One of my issues with defensive stats is I don’t think they adequately take into account or weight how many times a scorer was dissuaded from taking shots or getting to hot spots on the floor, or how effectively a player fights through screens to blow up an initial action and force the ball elsewhere. There’s also the matter of help defense, of recognizing when one of your teammates has left an area to double or close out on a driving player who got dribble penetration past the defender and helping that defender by moving into his spot and denying an opening for a pass and easy basket.

If we can match NO’s length with Bones, Boston, Coffey and maybe even some Kobe Brown, maybe we have a shot with all of the good ball movement.

Zu has to stay out of foul trouble.

Should be a great game, if we continue to play smart, aggressive like what we saw in Chicago.

With all of these B2B’s left, we have to use our youth now.

If he tries attacking the paint beyond the elbow, I foresee lots of TOs..

But, it does look like Coach is using PG with the 2nd unit more, and if he doesn’t hold on the ball too much and either shoots or passes back quickly to Bones, T. Mann or Norm, and we continue to see more ball movement, even if it is only side to side action, maybe, it can work.

If PG is scoring like this, then yes the ball should be in his hands more. The question is, why have they not leaned on him more in the last month? Because Harden holds the ball for the first 20 seconds of every possession. If THAT is the change they are making, than I am OK with it.
