Lou’s played over 25,000 min and scored 15,000 points. Mann has played 1,152 and scored 372 points. So, yeah, bit of a divide in career span and also not a slight against Mann.

I guess it’s all or nothing with the commentators here but that’s also the day and age we live in. No place for in-between opinions.

Yeah, it’s a good question. The categories here aren’t clear.

Manu came to the NBA as an old rookie from playing in Italy and then started just 5 times his rookie year–but started 335/564 games from 2004-2011, during the prime of his career. Then, he really began settling into that 6th man role as he aged into his 30s, and his career extended for a long time. But he only won 1 of his 4 titles in that twilight 6th man phase. In my mind, it’s a bit differen than Lou/Jamal who were 6M lifers. Hondo also eventually became a starter as he aged into his career, but I’m receptive to his titles as Boston’s 6th man in the 60s making him the G6MOAT, just as I’m receptive that Russell should have a pretty strong GOAT case because of how he ran the league for a full decade in a way that surpasses even the inevitability we’ve felt more recently from Jordan and LeBron.

I mean, for a 3rd C, sure, why not? 10-day contracts are a perfectly fine way to temporarily fill the void while the Clips wait to see if more guys get bought out and/or they identify anyone else currently available (e.g. Dedmon).

I’m not gonna pretend to speak for Showman, but I think “Mann will be fortunate to have half the career of Lou” is less a slight against Mann and more just a testament to how long Lou’s been doing this for. Any young NBA player would be fortunate to have half of Lou’s career, whether you’re talking about T. Mann, a second round afterthought for many until this season, or hell even someone like D’Angelo Russell, who at one point Lakers fans thought would save their franchise. It’s hard for anyone to be as good as Lou has been for as long as Lou has been good.
