Definitely Luke’s contract is in line with other elite shooters in the league. Guys like Joe Harris and Davis Bertans got paid even more (though both those contracts are probably a little regrettable).

Regarding JJ, I felt like the Clippers almost relied on JJ too much. In the playoffs always felt like teams are able to scheme his impact out of the game and attack him defensively. Playoffs end up all about matchups and you really see the importance of being able to create your own offense and not give it back on the other end. I felt like JJ’s game was not suited for the playoffs.

Will be interesting how Luke does in the playoffs. Clearly he’s been way better defensively this season, so hopefully at least not a target on that end. And I do feel like this team is less reliant on him running around to create offense, where teams won’t be able to scheme him out of open shots.

JJ was like the great John Havlicek, always moving. Luke is clearly better than Shamet. I'd also like to see Luke continue to be more assertive.

TBH … I know people love to complain about his contract value but it is on par with the rest of the pure shooters. I mean Landry Shamet is getting paid about the same and is less talented and less impactful than Luke. Many like to compare Luke to JJ but Luke has much more to his game than JJ ever did. He’s a better ball handler, better passer and has a more diverse offensive game. However, JJ was a master of movement and coming off screens. Nevertheless, I don’t mind Luke’s contract one bit. I just wish we wouldn’t fall into these lulls of passiveness.

“good NBA players like Coffey and Mook” — Coffey is now being accepted at least by Clippers fans as not just a real NBA player but a good one. He does appear to be that. And he’ll no doubt get better.

Luke is one of the best pure shooters in the NBA. The FO obviously recognized his talent, therefore the relatively large contract that some people have liked to complain about.

I agree that Luke is less passive but he stills falls into these passive lulls when playing.

Would love to see Embiid vs. Joker and I’d give Embiid the edge. The guy has such a soft touch (from all over) and is sooo strong to the hoop that it’s sick. I like Towns too but I’d have to say Embiid is the best player in the game rn.

Luke is now way less passive than before. You’ll also notice that teams have wised up and are now scheming to limit Luke, essentially making open looks scarce. So it’s now on Ty to combat those schemes and get him open. I just don’t know about TMann. Amir is really giving him a run for his money.

I don’t necessarily agree that Coffey is better than Mann but Coffey is definitely more assertive than Mann and that is what a team looking offensive juice needs. I love T Mann but he’s been beyond frustrating this season. His passiveness on offense really hurts the team. Combine that with Luke’s passiveness and you get long scoring droughts. I think it is safe to say, that T Mann is not going to make the next leap. He is who he is. He’s a smaller, more athletic and slightly lower IQ version of Nico Batum which is fine. But IMO, T Mann’s playing time should no longer be a forgone conclusion. It should be on a game by game basis.
