Love what Diabate brings to the table (and love that our FO has the acumen to scout NBA talents seemingly few to none lamestream media members
(* statement excluding writers/reporters for this website) had projected in advance landing on any team’s draftboards (at least from the various assortment of pre-draft pieces i read).

Side-note: one player i’ve followed since last season has been former Santa Cruz Warrior G Leaguer (and former Oregon) G-F LJ Figueroa: whom def seemed statistically deserving of an NBA callup for some team last season (blazers? Pistons?? Magic???) but never had the fortune of receiving one.
I was curious as to his whereabouts this summer and spotted his name currently occupying a slot on the Hornets summer league team… thus far, he’s continued looking every bit capable of NBA-level play with back-to-back 16pt outings (and yet to miss a single shot attempt) with handfulls of rebs and assists to boot! I love me some underdog stories, but i honestly think this kid is a legit talent, and I’m rooting for his continued success. Warriors let a decent one slip through the cracks, particularly with some of their key reserves finding new homes this offseason.

No wasted movements, composed and poised, solid shooting form with no hesitation. Like what I’m seeing and hope it continues.

He might be the best 2nd rounder that the Clippers ever drafted. Probably the best 2nd rounder was DJ, who like Boston, fell from the 1st round from a mediocre 1st year at college.

For all the years that I attended SL, we usually look like poo-poo and get blown out. Understanding that drafting good players is like reading tea leaves and very unpredictable, it is exciting to see Boston, Preston and Diabate in our young core — also including Mann and Coffey. Even though we’re contending for a Championship, I just hope that we don’t have to trade away these guys for a short term return that just doesn’t pan out.
Trading SGA was necessary in the PG trade with OKC, but other teams like the Lakers gave away such good young talent.

Obviously he is very raw but I don’t think he is just a 4/5 he is more like a modern forward, defensively vesatile, but offense is underdeveloped.

What I liked the most is that he seems to know what is expected of him in the long run and he has the love of the game to put in some work.

Good work is being done on all the levels of the organisation.

May the best players prevail in the final roster.

I like the kid, Diabate.

Defense, specifically the kind of nimble and switchable big man defense that is proving to be a key to modern defense in the NBA. Yes, he’s defending other end of the rotation/g-league guys, so obviously has to continue to show he can do it at higher levels, but this was a great first showing. Just build and posture, he was out there reminding me of Chris Bosh. Obviously not making a comparison in their skillsets, but just interesting since Bosh was used a lot near the end of his career as versatile center.

Preston was also very impressive during his 1st quarter stint. Played in control, and had several on-time/on-target kick out passes to the corners which are the kind of shots you want to generate.

I still really am high on Moon. Feels like a guy that just kind of got overlooked at the draft and playing in relative obscurity in a lower level league, but just feels like an NBA player. I wish he was given an opportunity like 5 years ago, because feels like trying to get in at 27 is going to be a uphill climb. Even though his uncle did it, the NBA has gotten even younger since Jamario was given an opportunity.

They’ve pulled a rabbit out of their hat more times than they’ve taken an L on a coin flip (picks in the 20s and 30s are basically 50/50 to have legit NBA careers). I’m not counting the Preston/Diabate chickens before they hatch (I do sort of assume at this point that Boston will be an NBA rotation player), but getting Zu for free, Mann at 48, and Coffey UDFA are three major, major value wins.

Losing Shai hurts and missing out chances to draft multiple first round picks limit the ceiling of our prospect.
But if we look at the U-26 teams we have now, it’s pretty impressive.
Zu is a starting center on contending team. While Luke is one of the best shooter in the league.
Then, the two most reliable young wings on the rosters are 48th pick T-Mann and the undrafted Coffey.
We cap it off with the second rounders we draft in the last 2 years with Preston (33rd pick), Boston (51st pick) and Moose (43rd pick)
Even though the scouting team is a hit or miss in the last few years. But they produce some really nice prospects in the pipeline for the team. (I think they focus heavily on character. It means that even if those players don’t pan out, at least they are good people to be around our team.)
Then, the development staffs are working tirelessly to improve their game.
We are in the very good hands now.

Not sure if the priority guys (at this point, I think only Preston, Boston, and Diabate count) in the Wednesday game on the second night of a back-to-back… but they’re young and could use the reps and it’s not like a back-to-back is some unholy burden. The Summer Lakers put up some good performances in Sacramento but aren’t exactly laden with top-flight talent, and Denver and Utah both have a few prospects but no obvious studs (like if we were playing the Summer Thunder). Frankly, this Summer Grizzlies team probably had the best draft pedigree of any of the Clippers’ 4 opponents, for what little it’s worth. Now watch us roll out against a team with 5 guys we’ve never heard of and lose by 20. Summer league is always funky like that.
