On Beal coming? I have a 2nd car, and I think it’s probably like a 75% chance of happening, so if someone is giving me even odds, I think that’s a good bet. Not much of a gambler, but just analytically, those are good odds.

Worried the James Jones thing decreases the odds to like 70% or something, but still I think it’s most likely to happen than not.

yea, I don’t think anyone can “consistently” hit on those, but Deandre in 2008 then Mann in 2019? Then no one else since? Maybe you include Coffey as a success, but like 1 hit every 10 years isn’t good enough. I don’t really have time to go through every team and figure out if they’ve been better or worse. Given the Clippers resources, they shouldn’t have any excuse to be outside of the top 5 in talent evaluation, and feels like they’re probably bottom 10.

Again this is only criticism around the draft, which is a crap shoot, but I think we have a pretty large sample size at this point to have criticisms or feel like there is vast room for improvement in this area.

If the Clippers flying under the radar means I don’t have to listen to SAS demonstrate the Dunning-Kruger effect to us regarding our team I will take that everyday. I don’t give af if mainstream media gives us any love or not. It was corny because they made it into a commercial, but it really is “streetlights over spotlights” for this team – we’re never gonna be as glamorous as the Lakers and that’s ok. Lean into it and enjoy the ride.

It was already consistent as I mention BOTH Grimes and Keon. Either way, both NBA players. The FO’s draft record is “meh”. Not good, but not abysmal.

“Meh” is better for us than hype. I can’t think of a single time that media hype hasn’t backfired on this team.

Also, while we as hardcore fans who watch every game can cite reasons to be excited about these moves, you have to remember that the national media is writing for a casual audience. Bringing in a 37-year-old backup center and a solid role player at PF aren’t the kind of moves they can easily hype up to the casuals.

Saw this. It’s surreal however the way the rest of the media is trying blank out the moves we’ve made including the imminent Beal acquisition. Lopez alone was huge not to mention the other stuff but the narrative is like “meh.” The headline this evening at ESPN is about the Lakers winning a summer league game lol! Not Major League Baseball or actual soccer or tennis or golf but a Lakers SUMMER LEAGUE game! That is truly desperate.

Another person noted how Ainge keeps doing us solid with regard to move after move of late and I started thinking that his hatred for the Lakers as an ex Celtic might factor into this in some subtle way. That feud runs deep.
