It’s funny how no one has mentioned addition by subtraction (AbS), which is a major Clipper strategy these days.

Norm Powell mentioned it before the season, and everybody thought that was hilarious, how can you say such a thing in a conversation that is in part about a ’23-’24 All-Star and Hall of Famer like Paul George? Norm was talking about himself, that he was welcoming additional minutes and opportunities. And how’s that going with Paul George–the 2024 Offseason Championship banner in Philly is looking a little tattered. And that’s not mentioning the other massive AbS, which was saying goodbye to Westbrook. I’m happy that Russ has been unlocked by Jokic and he’s making Denver better (at least until it might affect the Clips in the playoffs)–I’m not rooting for him to fail, like I am with PG. But the Westbrook signing and era ruined Terance Mann’s tenure and trajectory on the Clippers, and it crushed Bones Hyland as well. There was plenty of AbS in shipping out Marcus Morris, of course.

KPJ is going to be notable AbS. It’s too little too late for TMann and Bones, unfortunately, but it will be a major contribution to the Clippers chances and success in the final stretch of the season.

I don’t know if “poor man’s” is exactly right, as this was concentrated and different in lots of ways, but mostly it was the same thing. It’s truly strange how Ty Lue can be a good coach, and at the same time do terrible stuff like this. A head-scratcher.

I really like the notion that the FO was playing a long game of sorts. If Ty is going to do this, and give him an endless leash in order to establish the idea that he has some NBA utility, it will enable us to trade him. And thank god they did it.

Like the Marcus Morris situation, there’s a significant and crucial opportunity loss. If KPJ had been benched after those 10 games, and Bones had gotten then gotten a similar 10-game window as Harden’s backup, the Clips could be a different and better team right now. And KPJ bled into Terance’s minutes and his comeback from the finger injury too.

I guess he could surprise, he looked better last season than this year, but still feels like Patty is a respected vet and probably would be kept over Beauchamp. I guess both could go if the buyout market proves to be remarkably fruitful.

I felt like Morris might’ve been okay off the bench or in a much more limited role. But very similarly, Ty seemed to love a guy that can create his own mid-range jumper. I actually didn’t realize KPJ has been as bad statistically as he has.

I guess there’s a slight chance that in both cases, the FO was okay with Ty featuring them, knowing they would have to be somewhat appealing on the trade market.

Basically taking away Eubanks minutes and as the defacto backup to Zu. I think he’d be a “big” on defense, and a guard on offense. Keep Zu and Harden together most of the time, and then Ben can play the “point” with like Dunn, Bogi, Coffey, and Batum.

It’s a little tough, but at least there is a path for a role here. I just don’t see him having a role with the Cavs.

When Frank trades one of Lue’s toys what’s the conversation? Or maybe there isn’t one. Does Ty Lue even talk to Lawrence Frank?

I hope it works out for him. Every time KPJ looked like he unlocked something good, he would then revert to bad shots and over-dribbling. This experiment didn’t work.

I don’t know anything about Beauchamp. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
