Ive mentioned this before, and I’ll mention it again (at hopes of not wearing out welcome) because running it through Five Thirty Eight’s RAPTOR WAR Roster Shuffling tool increased the Clippers Champ probability from 14% (currently as stands) all the way up to 30%, a 16% increase…

It also doesnt seem completely unreasonable to me from the other team’s viewpoint, though admittedly i am not sure in reading Luke’s excellent analysis whether it is something completely feasible or not…
the exoskeleton of my idea is this:

Clippers receive: Davonte Graham
Hornets Receive: Lou Williams

Obviously there may need to be tweaking involved in order to make something feasibly work, but still in my mind it appears on the surface like a deal that could help both teams(?)

Dump FI and give up a measly 2nd rounder even if no buyout guys jump on the clipps train.
It’s worth “having “the option of adding 2 guys even if it’s whiteside/cousins and Jeremy Lin-just kidding. FI is not going to play so we might as well add someone who can play in a pinch even if they don’t end up playing.
Give up the 2nd rounder that looks most likely to be the worst pick.
Or stand pat let FI expire and just add one buyout guy if needed.

Neto is a guy I’ve liked for a while, since at least his days on the Jazz. Not sure he would play with everyone healthy, but definitely would be a decent depth guard if can be had.

Thanks for the perspective, Lucas…even though this year’s trade situation isn’t as glamorous as we probably want it to be, thanks to some questionable roster moves (that $3M 2Pat contract was horrendous at the time, and looks even worse in retrospect).

PJ Tucker looks washed this year. Granted, the Rockets as a whole are a tire fire, but he’s looked more like a buyout candidate than a trade candidate this season. I’d be happy to get him via buyout, but trading Lou for him at this point just doesn’t make sense imo.

I don’t like Whiteside, but I mean the only real question is “is he disruptive enough in the locker room to derail the season?” Because practically speaking, I’m sure he could sit on the bench just as well as Fi could. Obviously if he were forced into action he’s proven to be better than Fi, but realistically if he’s getting significant minutes we’re probably screwed anyways.

I know Lucas brought him early in the season, but if TJ McConnell were actually available I’d be really interested – dude looks like a pretty good defensive PG, and we don’t have another one of those outside of Bev.

In terms of buyout candidates, my ideal semi-realistic signing would probably be Trevor Ariza (assuming he’s actually healthy and willing to play), but I can’t imagine OKC just letting him go for nothing, and unfortunately I’d guess the Lakers would have the upper hand in trying to sign him.
