I guess u guys are way higher on BS than I thot ud be. Playing him at center? Don’t you think big centers would just bully him all over the place. Gobert would eat him alive.

I’m with you, jbugs. If you can get Simmons in addition to PG and Kawhi there really isn’t a trade on the roster I wouldn’t be willing to make.

Everyone is way too low on Simmons. Of course we should trade Mook and Bev for simmons. I would totally throw in Mann as well. Simmons isn’t a #1 pick bust. At some point in the past 3 years, he was being talked about as if he had 1st team all nba potential, while still only being a couple years into the league. Here we are, a couple of bad situations later (on the same team with the same ill-fitting roster) and we are saying we wouldn’t trade a couple rotation players for him? He’s still only 25 years old. Even if he doesn’t improve his shooting, he brings a ton of value to the table as a defensive specialist who could rebound and pass.

Bev is injured pretty often and is 33 years old. Morris was solid in the playoffs last year, but can sometimes waste possessions with crappy iso ball. His contract is not going to age well at all either. Simmons might be the best defender in the league and is improving every year. Why not just play him at center and not worry about how little floor spacing he provides. If you play him alongside Batum, PG, and Leonard, all of whom are also excellent defenders, you can totally afford to put Kennard out there and make up whatever floor spacing you lose with Simmons.

My preference would be to trade Zu and Mook for Simmons (and mann if necessary). Zu would provide Embiid with some much needed rest. I’d rather keep Bev in this scenario over Zu because Bev could play in a line up with simmons at center and our defense would be incredible (Bev, PG, Leonard, Batum, Simmons).

Lakers only have 3 players on their roster. If I’m Malik Monk, I’m way more interested in going to the Lakers where I could be the 4th best player on a top tier team than I am going to the team across the hall where I’m lucky if I’m the 6th man.

I agree that those options may have been better, but as was covered on the pod, those guys were likely looking for teams with less depth on their rosters. Porter, Portis and Monk would like not get to play as big a role on our clippers team. So we were left with Winslow. He may not amount to anything this season, but I’m not convinced the FO had a ton of options.

Why are you concerned about a back up for Zu/Serge when we barely played Zu to begin last post season? I feel like rounding out and bolstering our small ball line ups is a more efficient way of building this team.

If Morris was healthy against Suns, I think we would have beaten them in 5 or 6. I think trying to get the best guys available is how we go about mitigating injuries. Having and extra 7 footer wouldn’t have helped us much in any of our series last year.

99% chance probably not, but if the Bulls get into a situation where it’s trade him to X team or lose him for nothing, Clips might have a shot.

I’d actually like him to get to Portland with Dame. LaVine being a Seattle guy, so Portland is as close as he’ll get.

I agree with the c+/b- And It’s the “the way the market played out” part of this that drives me crazy for coco puffs. I wasn’t expecting DeRozan shy of an incredibly intricate sign & trade that would gut this team (I’m glad it didn’t happen, because I’m fond of last years team. How couldn’t I be?), but I had my list of dudes, as I’m sure everyone on this site did, and (may I be thoroughly wrong for underestimating him ) Winslow was not on it. The list was fairly long too. Frustrating to see players I valued dodge us for 3x as less, but….onward. Go Clippers. Looking forward to Summer League so long as it actually happens.

I’d give Justise for 2/8 a C+/B-. I think it’s a perfectly fine gamble but I’m not ecstatic about it, and given the way the market played out I don’t really care about using MLE money vs the min on him (especially since he probably had multiple teams interested in giving him the min)
