Sucks, but makes sense. He was not worth $20mil, much less the other $80mil in taxes it was going to cost Ballmer. But just disappointing since he had his utility on the court and if anything just having him and Morris’ contract still available in a trade, made the Clippers able add a big piece (at least for a few more days).

Kind of was expected when you saw teams like Atlanta and Sacramento giving up solid pieces for nothing. Warriors also just basically wanted to shed Poole’s big contract. This is probably the reality of the new NBA CBA.

Makes it all the more important to get the draft right…..

To me anything he gives you offensively is just gravy. If he’s going to be an NBA player it’s going to be solely based on his ability to defend multiple positions.

On offense, if he’s Deandre Jordan, that’s great. He’s shown the ability to score in the g-league, not sure how well that will translate to the NBA but at least something. Not sure I really want him looking for is own offense anyways. Lob threat and offensive tip-ins, should be all anyone wants from him.

I wonder how tradable that non-guaranteed contract really was, I assume we looked for trades for it and got nothing in return but losing Luke and 10 spots in the draft.

As of last season, yea he didn’t look like an NBA player. I’m hoping he’s made some improvements since then, and I feel like it isn’t an unreasonable expectation given that he’s one of the few dudes on our team who’s young enough to improve.

On a more general (and pessimistic) note, this is gonna sound weird, but I’d be ok w/ sacrificing some wins if it meant a more enjoyable watching experience because I’ve given up on this era in terms of contending for a title. When you’re a legitimate contender, you take every win you can get, regardless of what it looks like and/or how shitty the vibes are because you sacrifice anything and everything for a title. This team has obviously fallen short of that goal, and at this point we’re past the expiration date due to all the injuries and the age of our core. So yea, I’m convinced we aren’t contenders, for a variety of reasons. Ergo, even if playing Moose isn’t the best decision purely in terms of winning, I’m fine w/ that. I just want to actually enjoy watching our games again, and playing a dude who actually tries hard every night is a good first step towards accomplishing that.
