Lowest point at this Harden saga , its possibly that the league will fine the team for that lol

Suns – Booker and KD totally change that team, if one of them is out I think they’re more in a category like last year’s Grizzlies. Fully healthy though, with Gordon off the bench, that’s a tough out. Think when healthy you gotta beat them at center, Nurkic got his flaws and there’s little depth. Vs KD the Lakers did a good job, that’s a blueprint – but Clippers got better defenders vs him.

No question a combo guard who can shoot, playmake and score some would be a great fit for several lineups. He’s also an upgrade over Norm (who has his value in certain situations but is completely limited to the scoring part plus occasionally putting opponents in foul trouble)

Team spirit, availability, youth, salary implications and depth that come with it, performance level plummeting vs better defenses, shot selection I’m not so sure Harden is better/will remain better, transition offense, effort… Sure, if Harden would earn the same as Bones that’s an easy trade but reality is different. Looking at the past four years and looking at ALL the games, the good, the bad, the ones he missed, playoffs and regular season, factoring in salary, was Harden a net positive? He’s a +3.7 in on/off for the regular season (about 90% of his lineups include both Embiid and Maxey),he’s a -21.7 for the playoffs, not to mention the games that he wasn’t playing at all (where the Sixers went 15-9).

Higher ceiling in a best-case scenario, sure. How often did Harden play close to a best-case scenario, especially in the playoffs? How does Bones project? Is depth factored into that? E.g. trading Norm, Morris plus a 1st and a swap for a good 7th-8th man like say, Malcolm Brogdon, as an alternative to the Harden trade? It isn’t. An accurate comparison would be Bones + useful veteran compared to the total picture of Harden, the positives but also all the negative implications, from salary and less depth to selfishness, drama, playoff failures, lack of leadership, excuses and a track-record of wrecking franchises and holding them hostage. It’s NOT worth giving up any useful young player in my opinion because the best-case scenario is as likely as Thanksgiving in June. Without all the off-court stuff and at the same salary with Bones, I could easily agree with you. But that would take ignoring a ton of other stuff that unfortunately really has happened.

The vibe of the league is that the regular season has a lot of value and the league is trying to push teams to adopt the view that the players the fans come to see must show up to play unless they’re truly injured.

Phoenix’s role players/bench are very limited. Clippers feel like the better squad with T-Mann starting, Roco on the bench. Getting a better version of Norm, or making a few flips to get Brogdon would cement the Clippers as better. Brogdon for Morris and Coffey works in the trade machine. Portland gets an expiring contract + Coffey. Could also throw in a pick.

As for Coffey, I’d consider playing him on the 2nd unit next game with T-Mann being out. Would like his size, defense and ability to finish in there with Norm, Bones, Plumlee, Batum. Gotta give Norm/Bones protection. I think Coffey is a good fit for that role so Batum can help defend the paint

Happy to jettison MM, Norm and Batum. Bones is just a very special talent and will only improve with opportunity and confidence. We got Bones cheap mainly cuz he showed some youthful insubordination so Malone wanted him gone. He’s an inspiring player with huge upside. Harden’s a one year rental who, I’ve now come around to thinking, will slow us down.
