I would actually welcome this. Forced rebuild/retooling isn’t ideal, but better than continuing to settle for disappointment and listening to George brush off his bad games as if nothing is ever wrong. An actually legitimately bad season might also finally show Ballmer that Frank has done nothing to earn this level of trust/job security.

I think the F.O. and he need to get on the same page. I want Lue to actually be a real coach and not get distracted by catering to high rent personalities. F.O. needs to aid that effort by limiting the number of older, high maintenance vets on the team that are potential distractions from Lue focusing on actual coaching.

I do think PG is more inclined to leave than stay. That’s a product of the F.O. drawing the line on 3 yrs vs 4 yrs for both Kawhi and PG. They should stick to their position. If PG leaves, they should address the long-standing needs in the roster for a stronger backup 5 and depth at the #4, plus empowering young players.

I think this also means getting rid of PJ Tucker, Russ and Plumlee. If the team is going to keep Russ, someone (not named Lue) has to manage him. That’s where you’d want to have a strong assistant to help.

Throw unlimited money at Dan Hurley, get Kenny back, go get one of the top coaches in Europe, etc. Plenty of options. If our so-called “stars” can’t handle playing for a real coach, not a yes man, they can leave. We’ve tried it their way and it’s been an epic failure.

Settling for Lue brings us back to the same fundamental issues with this team. Ballmer is a pushover who would rather stay mediocre than take any risks to get better. Frank has about as much knowledge of the current NBA as Shaq and Chuck.

Trading off Tucker and maybe Norm make sense though. Coffey, Bones, Brown as trade sweeteners helps too. Can sign CP3 and a backup 4.
