Even if PG/Kawhi are both not Clippers in 3 years, Amir will be 29 and… a competent starter on a lottery team? I like Amir a lot but I’m not really sure he’s young or good enough to be “the future.” I think he will either be an add-on in a trade, as Robert said, because someone recognizes that he’s a serviceable rotation wing on a cheap contract, or he’ll step into a rotation role here when others depart in a big trade this summer. Either way, I think he’s more of a “now” guy than a “later” guy for the Clippers.

One of two things happened, and it depends on how LAC was able to manage their order of operations in the hours before the deadline.

Option 1:
– Plumlee absorbed into Ibaka TPE
– Jackson to Charlotte for “nothing,” creating a new $11.2M TPE
– Bones absorbed into Jackson TPE, leaving a $9M “leftover” TPE that we have for the next year

Option 2:
– Bones absorbed into part of the Ibaka TPE, leaving a $7.5M “leftover” TPE that then expired
– Jackson to Charlotte for Plumlee, creating a new $2.1M TPE that we have for the next year

Obviously option 1 would be ideal, but based on the announcement order of the trades, I suspect option 2. I have not seen it confirmed anywhere (the Fanspo trade machine has a new $2.1M TPE for LAC, but I think that’s an assumption rather than reporting. They’re the best trade machine product out there but have occasional minor inacurracies.)
