Article up on The Athletic abour RoCo – my takeaways were that he’s understandably annoyed w/ how last season went down and hasn’t spoken to Ty about it. Which basically tells me we’re trying to ship him out in the Harden deal. I’ll never understand why he got frozen out of the rotation last season despite all the injuries and despite MM being washed.

I’ve just resigned myself to this.

Feels like this sums up being a Clippers fan pretty well.

I am super underwhelmed by this offseason so far, and if/when we get Harden I’ll be a bit more optimistic (though not really if we have to give up Mann), but at this point I’m more than ready to move on from 213 and Ty.

I know he’s on an expiring (thanks as always goes to Zultan) but who is just absorbIng his salary to be a homie? We have to attach a pick to it at least. My hope is he’s part of the Harden trade but I find it hard to believe the 76er’s want him. Maybe us taking on Tuckers contract is what convinces them to do so but I still see a world where Mook just rots in a Clippers jersey until at least the trade deadline.

I still thought Marcus probably has more value to the Clips than most teams in the league, even if it’s as a 3rd string PF, better than buying him out or using assets to shed his salary. If he’s not playing 30 minutes a night, or just as injury insurance, maybe his knees will hold up and we’ll see good Marcus for like more than half a season.

But with the recent social media stuff, it does feel like the relationship with the team is fractured, and probably should be moved/waived. Still think worst case they can just tell him to stay home, and hopefully his expiring deal has some value at the deadline even as just filler.

I have to think with how much Ty played him last year, PG saying he’s like top 5 teammate he’s had, Marcus still has a lot of supporters on the team. So kind of curious if the negative fans have pushed him so far the the relationship with the team really can’t be salvaged.

I really don’t have a problem with Marcus, and I’d even leave it open to him earning minutes on this team. Just they need to be earned, not based on his play 3 years ago.

I think you meant *through* 24/25. For whatever reason they’ve decided they have unfinished business with 213 despite those of us who were looking to sell high while we could. Here we are. I’m not sure Harden is a savior but putting a group of gifted players near the end of their primes together who want to redeem themselves isn’t the worst alternate plan. I’ve just resigned myself to this. Maybe they can carve out a nice record by committee and hit the playoffs on all four HOF cylinders. I can see a world where if managed properly they could be deadly. But this brings us back your (and many of us) original concerns about Ty. Again, here we are.

So what are you strongly disagreeing about?

Did he mail it in because he could only get a 2-way or leave for another league? No, that doesn’t make sense. He could’ve balled out in SL and sign for another league and come back to the Clippers when they could sign him or trade him.

He and/or his agent thinks he’s mediocre and signed a 2-year 2-way to have some guaranteed money because they think that’s the best he can get.

He is an expiring so it won’t be impossible to move him. Also, depending on how bad the vibes are they could stretch and waive his contract.

No you’re misunderstanding – he was not making an NBA roster regardless of his summer league performance. The Clippers do not have room and no other team can offer him anything since the Clippers have his rights.
