Unrelated question: I looked on the “NBA Last Two Minutes” report for Friday’s Clipper/Laker game. It’s not there, but I noticed the header said the game must be within 3 points in clutch time. I thought it was 5 points.

Did that change? Or do I remember it wrong?

First of all, apologies for the florid rants last night regarding the state of the league and nostalgia. Losing to the Lakers manifests itself in all of us in a variety of ways and the postgame conversations just triggered me.

Very happy for JM and this is one of the positive exponents of today’s league where a kid can kind of get a down payment on producing generational wealth if he works hard and is smart about it.

Not sure if he can improve our fortunes in the short term but he does offer a wrinkle offensively that’s not like anyone else on the team. Perhaps he can be our “slow mo” kyle anderson.

And when Kawhi & Harden’s contract is up in a couple years. We need some core to survive in the west.
Zu is one guy, then it’s DJJ & Coffey and that’s it.
This means Brown, Miller, Cam, Flowers need to step up their game.
I believe we can sign a couple great free agent, trade for some pieces and get some random vets to revive their career here.
But we still need home grown talent to cheer for.
For win-now coach like Ty, that’s not easy.
But Zu & Coffey prove that you can make it.

The reason for the deal happening now is simple. March 1 is the playoff eligibility deadline, so the Clippers wanted to allow Beauchamp the opportunity to be signed to another team to make their playoff roster.

Since we don’t have any decent draft picks, we won’t really see any interesting Clippers in the 19-23 age range. So they might as well give youth player minutes to Miller and Brown.

Congrats to Miller! He deserves it.
Not sure if it helps but he’s on fire playing for SD Clips for the past couple games. He’s lethal scorer for them and his drive to the rim is unstoppable over there.
Hope it translate to the main league.
I know him and Brown are on older side of talent development.
But they both look like mature, hard working and being basketball-wise enough to become rotational players for us.
Hope they stay ready when called upon.
Let’s see how it work out.

I see Jordan getting a chance in the last phase of this season. And, as you say, if his 3 ball and D come around– heck, I’d settle just for the 3 — he could crack the rota. Congrats Jordan.

But does MarJon Beauchamp’s playoff eligibility have any significance? I mean, I don’t see a playoff team signing him; for anything more than regular season garbage time. A non-playoff team is more likely to take a flyer on him.

I think if he’s claimed off waivers in the next 12 hours he can be. But yeah they probably should have done this earlier
