One other point on all this off-season nuttiness. No other sport is more dependent upon trades and free agency and divining which players might fit together than the NBA. It’s perhaps HALF of the marketing intrigue second only to who wins the chip. I believe the league made a catastrophic decision to constrain this activity with the new CBA and ultimately this is going to backfire and restrictions loosened. It’s just not much fun. Give it a season or two and just watch.

I understand wanting to move on from Russ, but if Russ and Bones are both gone that means our PG situation is Harden (if he’s even re-signed) and…Mann? I really don’t want to have to rely on CP3 or Lowry at backup PG but we may have no choice if Bones is gone too.

I’m not in the echo chamber of regular social media but I guess there are rumblings that we’re moving on from Bones too? I hope that’s not the case. Seems like there’s going to be some monster trade involving a lot of teams so let’s just hope that when it all shakes out we have a legitimate replacement for PG, a quality starting PF and have gotten younger with some cap relief moving forward.

Oh they were our kryptonite even before the trade. Now? They’ll probably beat the crap out of us. But the fact that I still don’t think the Pelicans are contenders should tell you how low I am about this roster. I hope George opts in tomorrow and we send him to the Warriors for Kuminga and draft capital.

Murray is a great pick up for N.O. He’s very underrated. He’ll help move CJ back to his natural position at the 2/3, and as a big guard with very good court vision he’s going to be able to get easy shots for a lot of teammates. Putting him on the floor with those wings and Zion should improve N.O. quite a bit and he can carry the load if Zion misses games.

Russ leaving is a good thing for LAC. Lue had a hard time managing him and he was not good as the backup #1. His inability to hold that position down and his unwillingness to go to the deep bench behind Mann and Bones taking minutes at the point distorted the team’s rotations and probably contributed to Harden wearing down a bit, Kawhi breaking down and PG load managing in the 2nd half. \\

Might not look like contenders like okc or minny but anything can happen. Still a middle tier team we may have to fight for the 4-8spot. Pelicans got a steal for a caliber player like him. Atl definitely could’ve gotten better offers for him if they waited imo.

Seeing rumors that Russ is expected to leave, which I’m fine w/. He apparently wants more playing time so maybe he can go to Washington or Detroit or something and try to raise their floors a bit while putting up gaudy numbers. I don’t fault him too harshly for his time here, especially since unlike 213 he always played w/ effort, but it’s just a shame he couldn’t adjust his game to fit into a smaller role. Wish him well wherever he winds up.
