And I like this as a first domino. Let Morris take a good amount of time and get right. With Batum, Zu, Hartenstein and Serge added in, the Clips should have big man minutes covered–and no one is going to be upset if Winslow gets a little less run at the same time.

There will be some questions on how Serge can match up, especially if he doesn’t have the same mobility. But it seems like there are at least a few guys like him getting minutes alongside centers. Cleveland was one example.

Zu’s last game against Minnesota was a revelation, and it would be interesting to see if he can sustain anything like that. And Hartenstein has been solid, hustling and making plays, fun to watch. Seeing Hartenstein and Serge on the floor together could be fun too. The boards and rim protection go down during Hart’s minutes, and Serge would make all that a plus. It doesn’t seem like you’d want to slash Hart’s minutes, even if you don’t have to right away, while Serge is restricted.

No reason not to try some stuff as it comes along while Kawhi is out. Winslow isn’t the next Nic Batum, unfortunately, although I think he can play better in some spot minutes moving forward. His defense and mobility are good enough that it’s tempting to put him out there, but it seems a shame for him to take minutes from Hartenstein unnecessarily. I guess we’ll probably see some Serge-Winslow minutes at some point.

Excited about adding back Serge–he seems like an unexpected bonus. Let’s hope he’s okay and keep things simple, go one step at a time.
