It made sense that he would make athletic plays that would result in a poor or awkward shot, and I was prepared to see a fair amount of that type of thing. But this was different. This was blowing relatively simple, makable shots time after time. Like a lot, a whole lot.

And it’s one of those things, where if you can just get 1 or 2 more of those per game to fall, literally lay them into the basket at close range, everything else looks different. Averages, percentages, plus/minus all go up, confidence is boosted, other shots fall.

With this question, I wonder if there are ways a coaching staff could work on something like that, intervene and improve it somehow.

I’m sure he’s working out but expecting him to reinvent his skillset seems like setting yourself up to be disappointed.

I hope he’s taking tons and tons of C&S threes and working on his footwork as a screener/short roller. But I think if he could practice his way into being a 40% three point shooter he would have done it years ago.

I don’t think it’s good vibes for this to linger on for months either. Harden will keep partying and will come into camp out of shape. Then we would spend the first quarter of the season dealing with that. Also don’t want it to be a bitter transaction. Future considerations do matter.

Signing Moussa to a 2-way is cool and all. But just waiting on Harden to get here.
