I don’t think Ballmer is afraid to make changes, they did let Doc go after all. If the Clips suck in 2026-2027 and strike out in free agency then yea some heads would roll but I think the LA Market, the organization’s standing with the league (a far cry from the Sterling days) and most importantly cold hard cash will be a good sell. The question is whether there’s anyone worth pursuing then.

2027 looks like the HOF class, AD, Kawhi, Harden, Steph, Butler, Irving will all be 35+. Giannis will be 32 or 33, Donovan Mitchell and KAT will be in their 30s. Some might get big deals, most will probably ring chase on MLE type deals.

Not defending LF either or claiming these guys will be surprisingly good but they’ll get in games, I’m sure of it. The season is long and brutal — there will be “rest” games — they’ll no doubt see action and it will be up to them to perform. I’m not predicting how they’ll perform but they’ll get a chance (assuming they “earn” it in the G).
BTW, do you also label Kobe, Jordan and Flowers as “trash”?

They’re not playing a single minute this season unless half our roster is hurt. They’re 22 and 23 years old and are “projects”. They’re trash. I defend LF A LOT on here, but these picks were trash. You don’t pick oldies for “potential”.

Trash the rooks all you want but I think they have good size, athletic ability and upside. Give them a chance at least.

The rooks are trash. Nothing hinges on them.

We got a starting caliber center that shoots 3s as our BACKUP behind an all-NBA caliber starter. Lopez gives lineup flexibility and rim protection. He also has finals experience. This hate is ridiculous.

The FO needs to turn Norm, possibly packaged with Eubanks, into a starting PF. Sign Chris Paul, and that’s it.

A bench of Lopez, CP3, and what we already have will do great against other team’s benches.

Totally buy what ur selling–it’s just that so far, the haul has been pretty underwhelming (unless Brook can start sinking a bunch of those long range bombs he’s noted for–seen him do it). These moves will work out fine IF — and this is a big IF — the rooks pan out, get time and make something of it AND we can improve via a trade or two. Stay tuned.

Nah the old dudes aren’t unjustifiably playing ahead of young guys – the young guys on our roster just aren’t good enough. Now the FO should draft/sign some better young guys, sure, but the ones currently on the roster are just not very good.

I know a lot of folks are freaking out that we keep adding these older guys, but our starting five are all in either their mid prime or late prime, and Lopez, Nico and CP (if we land him) are all guys with incredible IQs who’ve aged well to pick up 12–15 minutes per game. So long as none of these contracts extend beyond James and Kawhi’s tenure then it’s all good. The strategy makes sense to me. If they can pull off a trade for Collins or PJ Washington (Norm straight up—Dallas needs more shooting) then great. If not then a Boucher on VM would be fine. The only option this franchise has now is to try to stay in the hunt and hope that some good fortune break their way in the playoffs.
