Yeah I think you give Bogi 3 more halves at least to get it going. Norm’s in the rotation no matter what. His diversified scoring isn’t really replaceable. But if we somehow lose game 4 and are getting into trouble in game 5 then I could foresee going away from Bogi. He was great to finish the year, but he’s not so great that you can go down with the ship with him if he can’t snap out of it.

Btw, to the OP, everyone ahead of Coffey earned their minutes ahead of him. Pretty clearly too and I’m not down on Amir. He was pretty good early in the season and there are plenty of teams he would play for (heck, the Nuggets I’m sure would probably be playing him 20 min per game minimum). You could do much worse for a 10th man or injury replacement for a couple games if someone misses time. Lue is preaching for him to keep himself ready because the deeper we go the more likely we will need him.

I would not be surprised to see Amir at some point in this series. Right now, I wouldn’t want to further undermine Norm/Bogi’s confidence by going away from them.

Amir may be an option to play SG/SF minutes, if available. But there was enough of a gulf between Norm and Amir (and even Bogi and Amir, in the last month of the season) that making that adjustment after 2 bad games would be a massive overreaction.

Bogi is mostly playing point guard, which isn’t a suitable position for Amir. I also don’t really think it’s a suitable position for Bogi, which was my main concern about getting him at the deadline. But he’s definitely more of a “combo guard” with some handling/playmaking than Amir is.

I think I should be happy that we’re tied 1-1 despite the Clippers overall not being close to their ceiling, and I do think overall Denver has gotten closer to their ceiling. That being said, we’ve got our “Kawhi went nuclear” game, and Denver hasn’t gotten their “Jokic went nuclear” game. We know it’s just a matter of time, but hopefully it comes after we’ve already created some separation. Or alternatively, we also haven’t gotten the “Russ does insanely braindead stuff at critical moments” game, so hopefully that happens in the same game to cancel Jokic out (a la the Minnesota game late in the season).

Also re: Norm and Bogi – this is the worst possible time for them to go cold. They’ve missed some *wide open* looks and layups in games 1 and 2. If we get a C+ game from either of them we win both of these games comfortably. I don’t think we can win this series w/ both of these guys being this bad, but if they don’t snap out of it quick Ty needs to throw Coffey out there and/or give Batum some of Norm/Bogi’s minutes.

I check the score of game 1 and knows that I can’t re-watch them. Not a second, no chance.
I believe if we are up 3-1 again I will have nightmare before game 5 knowing that crazy shit can happen to us.
Being Clips fan ain’t easy.
But I’m proud I choose to root for them.
Because when we are finally at the top, we will be one of the hardest/craziest fanbase to ever go through all those stuffs before reaching them.

Great post. I’ve been agonizing over how undersized Norm is and all of us are aghast at how pedestrian Bogi has looked. The other day I was racking my brain wishing we had just one more piece who was younger and taller that could shoot and then I remembered “COFFEY!”

Ty has never cared much for developing younger talent and virtually every young player we’ve moved on from has gone on to play better for other teams—even Kai Jones!

When Amir closed that 2022 (?) season on that three point tear I recall thinking to myself what a steal he was for us given our dearth of draft picks. But just like with Terence after his incredible 2021 playoff run, Coffey was benched the following season. It’s almost like Ty was trying to humble them. But this type of treatment will rattle a young man’s confidence and can actually ruin them as a player.

If there is a snowball’s chance in hell of us competing with the Thunder it will be a size and strength thing, Other than Chet and Hart there is no one in their rotation taller than 6’6.” Norm and Bogi will get eviscerated by that quick defense but a guy like Coffey might just be able to get his shot off as a designated sniper. Point forward Simmons could turn out to be a player they don’t have an answer for too in his own weird way.

Here’s hoping that in one of the home games against Denver there will be some garbage time so Amir can get some minutes. Perhaps he looks good and might get a shot in a break glass scenario once Norm and Bogi have been played off the floor.
