What’s wrong with the paper bag Clips?

In Chinese (and Japanese, but I’ll get to that), the order of the names is reversed. So Yang Hansen’s last (family) name is Yang, and his first (given) name is Hansen, and in Chinese when referring to him by his full name you’d say Yang Hansen, but by English conventions it’d be Hansen Yang. The NBA doesn’t do this w/ Japanese players for some reason. So in English it’s Rui Hachimura, but in Japan it’d be Hachimura Rui. Why the difference? No idea – ask Adam Silver.

Edit: For what it’s worth, I don’t think he’s amazing or anything (the “Chinese Jokic” online nickname was largely a joke), but we need cheap, young bigs, and Portland doesn’t want him. Seems like a good buy low opportunity at a position of need for us.

It’s possible we could have all three depending on the market for JC and Benn. That would be crazy but not impossible. It’s my understanding that we can first use that space to sign Watson, then go over it a bit to resign JC or Benn while still using the MLE to sign the other one. Or something to that effect.

I know uve been beating the drum for him for a while, just like you beat it for IHart. I saw him once or twice–tall string bean but he wasn’t super impressive. But anybody would be better than BroLo

Hopefully he puts in the work this summer.

Portland just re-signed Rob Williams and signed another 7-footer in Branden Carlson, which speaks volumes about their confidence in Yang. I don’t know if he’ll ever pan out, but he’s young, cost-controlled, and Portland obviously doesn’t want him so maybe we could pry away some draft assets to take him on, or maybe we could bring him in by being the third team in whatever additional trades Portland has lined up (…there’s no way they’re gonna roll out that guard rotation, right?). Yang backing up BroLo while YKN heals up makes sense to me. And if Yang doesn’t pan out? No biggie, his contract has team options for two more years, so the Clippers could easily cut bait if he’s truly unplayable.

He was like a 35% shooter from the college 3-pt line and I don’t think came into the league projected as a knock down shooter. He was pretty consistent all year though, so feels like he should be able to keep it up. We see guys like Draymond having a hot shooting season and regress after that.

I think we’ll get a good sense pretty quickly if Garland has the speed, shot, and mojo to put pressure on other teams and make guys like Ingram a little more feisty and competitive. He’s an experienced pro, and he has been good at producing empty calories for some time now–and that should be good enough for the Clippers to get by. But with guys like Dunn and DJJ, trying to bring back some of that (Norm as a starter, before Kawhi came back) J. Van Gundy defensive intensity, and then seeing what Wagler does to the vibe, maybe Ingram takes it up a notch.

Collins would really be helpful. I hope that the Clippers resign him, and it’s a good deal for both sides.

Point is to get a group of guys that can build together before any of them are due big extensions. Right now if Wagler is going to be like going on year 5 before we see any of those Raptors picks? Maybe Wagler is a bust and it doesn’t matter, but would be kind of nice to be able to build out a young core with some high draft picks in the next few years.

But would any one of us here be surprised if Kawhi got hurt again and they underachieved? I think Frank and Ballmer legit wanted to keep Kawhi (I don’t buy that report that they didn’t offer him any kind of extension), and his injury history is probably the only reason he was even available in the first place.
