JC game’s analysis. This is a good one.
I love that with Paul & Brook acquisition, people will focus more on the old guys’ identity and then forget about the other aspect
Collins is getting much more underrated because of that.
I really want to see the on-court dynamic between him, James, Kawhi & Zu.
It seems like everything falls into places: Kawhi can destroy guards and wings who want to go pass him. Zu knows that he has weakside help waiting in line if he slip, which rarely happens anyway. And James has big man who can rolls hard to the rim or pop out to the 3-point line.
Oh and Paul might get someone on poster alert when throwing some lobs to him.
Him, JC & DJJ might get Lob City 2.0 to comes back a bit. I hope they get Flowers to join them too.
The Unction might actually be a fun team to watch.
Can’t wait.

Also see the Nugs and Gordon as the key obstacle — again. I think the clips see it that way as well and so further moves ahead if Collins does not pan out as a Gordon stopper. But, with Collins giving it a legit go, I see the duo of Collins/Kawhi giving Gordon all he can handle. We’ll see.

The Lob City teams didn’t have a two way SF or Center as good as Kawhi/Zu. The guard rotation on that team vs this team is a wash, with this team arguably having more depth and the Lob City teams having the edge on youth.

If you compare this team to the 2020-21 teams, I think this front line is better and we have more skilled players at the point guard position.

As you say, it’s all on Ty Lue. If he manages this roster well, this should be one of the best regular seasons in LAC history. If healthy, the team is also built for the playoffs b/c this front line is going to be tough to score against and all 3 of those guys can score at the other end.

Ty holds all the cards on this issue. He can run guys into the ground or spread the minutes around and save them for the big pix. I expect that us fans will likely hold our tongues when key guys rest on B2Bs or not even travel on some trips that we perceive to be critical Ws to get. We will adopt the mantra that whatever seed we get, we’ll be better off with the team relatively intact come POs and that only happens if we survive the reg. season.

This is shaping up to be one of the most fascinating seasons that any of us have ever seen from this team.

The only hard cap triggers I can find are using the Tax Payer MLE triggers the 2nd apron as a hard cap and using the bi-annual exception triggers the 1st apron as a hard cap.

Coffey played more than 3 years for the Clippers, so they should have Bird rights. I’ve seen no news of the Clippers releasing their Bird right on Coffey.

However, everybody is not including Coffey’s previous contract as a cap hold, which they should be doing unless they renounced their Bird right. So, it’s possible they renounced their Bird right and it just failed to make the news.

If Denver wasn’t worn out by our series and Halliburton doesn’t blow up they might not have won it. This wasn’t a team that just blew through the competition, and by virtue of their various flaws actually elevated the status of a fun but not great Pacers team. Boston would have absolutely handled them if fully healthy. They deserve to be the favorites but I don’t yet see that second genius necessary to guarantee a dynasty. They are going to have to go through three of the Nuggets, Lakers, Clippers, Rockets, Wolves and—-most scary of all—-Dallas as a possible 1st round opponent. A rising team like Portland would also be an exhausting 1st round out.

Their run was bookended by Ja getting injured and Memphis handing them a sweep and Halliburton going down thus making game 7 a no contest.

Playing into late June and then through this miserable 82 game schedule and then having to run that gauntlet above is no gimme.

So for now, I ain’t putting OKC in the same air as those historically significant teams I mentioned above – they’ll earn the right to be in the discussion after a *few* titles.

Each of the contenders can be knocked out with one timely injury.

It is a marathon, but the last standing team — needs a bit of injury luck.
