Kings aren’t just the worst defensive team in the league but they’re the worst defensive team in a long time. You can’t fully judge by DRTG across eras because offenses have gotten miles better even just in the last few years, but they’re a hefty amount worse than the bottom team from each of the last 5 seasons.

Definitely just a one game sample size, against one of the worst (the worst?) defensive team in the league. But was at least a one game sample size of them playing good, not a one game sample size of them playing bad.

I am very happy with Reggie and Terance tonight but I would caution against using any one game–but especially this one game–as any grounds for even considering whether or not their play makes Lou expendable.

The Kings have a historically bad defense and the Clippers were basically running their offense against some folding chairs set. If Pat and Lou both remain out against Indiana (I sure hope we get at least one back), that would be a much more legitimate test.

2-3 is neither a fluke nor not a fluke, it’s just too small of a sample size to adjust. We know he can make an NBA three, roughly 1/3 on low volume. If we were a bad team and he was getting 20+ minutes of run every night we’d see him shoot 2 or 3 every game (he averaged 2.6 attempts/game in 35 minutes in the G-League, though I’d assume he’d shoot from deep at a slightly higher rate given the same NBA minutes as he’d be off the ball more).

The question is if we gave him 20 minutes a game, would he shoot 4 per 36 at 35% or 2 per 36 at 32%? That’s the difference between him having a long NBA career or not. If it’s the former, his floor is a solid 12th man and he could easily grow into a rotation contributor as his overall skillset, comfort, and confidence progress. If it’s the latter, his ceiling is probably a solid 12th man or maybe a very niche 10th man with a specific fit (think RHJ, who was a good 10th man for Toronto last year with a very specific skillset and role, but now can’t find a roster spot). And by the time your 26 with a ceiling as a 12th man, there’s a 20 year old with a higher ceiling taking your third-string spot.

definitely was worried going into this game that it would end up being close, especially with Pat and Lou both out, so it was nice to see a convincing win. Definitely playing a bad defensive team, does cure what ails you.

The high was definitely Reggie and Mann looking like solid NBA players. With at least some talks among fans of losing Lou to upgrade at other spots, Reggie and Mann at least in this game showed they might be capable of soaking up some of those minutes if Lou is ultimately dealt. We’ll see if they’re needed more in the near future and Lou and Pat’s availability, I assume, still unknown. They have been given an opportunity to show they deserve minutes and so far are making the best of it. Hope they both can keep it up.

Love at least having some garbage time to see Fi and Oturu. Fi definitely is not making use of these limited opportunities. I thought maybe another team would be willing to trade something for Fi, given he was a recent 1st round pick, but more and more, I think the Clips might have to attached a pick to even ship him out.

Also, wishing the best to Pat as sounds like something happened with his family.

The centers continued to be an issue in the 1st half.. Serge with quick fouls & Zu just simply playing lazy & not contesting a damn shot in the paint, unless it was at the rim.. All those paint points is what killed them in the 1st half & has hurt them all season

Come the 3rd qtr though, Serge spearheaded the charge with his defense & the rest followed suit.. Zu also decided to contest some shots which contributed to their 2nd half dominance.. When those 2 control the paint, the way they’re capable of, this defense is elite!

Can’t speak enough about Reggie’s play all year & the job he did today on both ends, he was GREAT! Hats off to Mann who had the best game of his career! He brought great energy, defense & pace.. The latter, being something this team has lacked all year.. You even saw Kawhi & PG playing with more pace & pushing the ball after defensive rebounds

Now, this was a bad Kings defense we’re talking about, but they’re also the same team who’s beaten the Suns, Pacers & Nuggets TWICE! This had the makings of another letdown but they locked in & produced one of their better halves this year.. More importantly, they did so without Pat & Lou while getting key contributions from Reggie & Mann.. & way to finish the game off by the 3rd stringers & Luke.. I guess they weren’t too happy with the article that dropped here the other day lol

FINALLY took care of business. If Mann’s three point shooting wasn’t a fluke maybe we actually a serviceable young player. Gotta keep this rolling through the next four games.

Nice W. This team is gelling early in the season. We can still become better. Zubac looks to be frustrated coming off the bench. He did have a decent game but it looks like his head is not in the game some times.
