Let’s not overcomplicate this. He’s a better player than DJJ and is bigger.

Both were competitive but the latter two teams were so slow and methodical in comparison. I’m not sure to what extent Denver really got better from last year but Gordon destroyed the Warriors even more than he did us. If we get our heads out of our asses I see no reason we can’t be on the same level as the Nuggets. The Warriors are better than the Lakers but not sure how much really. Sure feels like OKC by a mile to repeat.

The money had to be super attractive for these bux-up guys to do the alleged deeds

I have seen some atrocious games, but nothing compares to last night’s debacle.

The Clippers just didn’t try. Did Harden, Leonard, and the others believe their resumes and pedigree were enough to beat the Jazz?

I thought the whole point of bringing in Collins was to get size on the front line and move Leonard to the 3. How stupid and stubborn can Lue be? It came down to 3 7-footers against Zu. If it wasn’t dunks, it was 3’s.

Turnovers, sloppy passing, lack of concentration, lack of fire and determination, and the lack of pride were all on display.

Giving up 47 points in the 1st quarter of the 1st game is not something to be particularly proud of.

We will see what they are made of on Friday.

TL has been subpar for awhile now. While he took responsibility for the game, no one (perhaps aside Zu) was really showing anything other than indifference.
Kawhi was an absolute disappointment. He has to realise that this isn’t Toronto and it is time to offer some leadership back to the faithful fanbase.
This team doesn’t handle praise well so I hope that how much we sucked got under their skins for the next games. TL should have pulled most of the starters and put the baby Clippers in.
I don’t care about these “set in stone” rotations, play should be based on merit and effort.
Let’s hope that was just attributed to growing pains of the additions and the enthusiasm of the Utah Jazz.

Forget about implications after one game Coach K. Much more important is to optimize the rotations. Collins is a starter on this team, plain and simple. OTOH, we don’t see what the coaches see in practice but even still, Collins has to get the nod just on sheer size. I’m also sure he doesn’t like coming off the bench. Unfortunately, Ty’s not going anywhere.
I was also thinking Norm as we were getting punched. Undersized as he is, he’s still a bucket. But, want to see Beal get hot. Xlnt shooter.

  • Did Kawhi bet on that game? I don’t think that’s a trivial inquiry, tbh, given what happened this morning. A prideful athlete would’ve taken all the crap that Pablo Torre had thrown at him and channeled it into a statement game. That didn’t happen here. When Charles Barkley joked about Kawhi having 2 jobs it didn’t feel like a joke.
  • Also, that starting lineup doesn’t work and I said so in the preseason (as it was obvious). You can’t have your SF be a POA defender against guards. It throws rotations out of whack and DJJ simply isn’t that good. Dunn is a better perimeter defender because he’s actually a guard.
  • We traded a very productive and hardworking Norm Powell for John Collins and then barely played him when it mattered. Kawhi got cooked by Markannen. Lue and the coaching staff have f**ked up the entire preseason trying to avoid doing what the FO clearly wants them to do: F’ing play John Collins as the starting 4, move Kawhi to the 3, and figure out whether you need more defense or offense at the #2 and choose either Beal, Bogi, Dunn.
  • If this were the English Premier League, Lue and the staff would be fired. Losing that game has a lot of implications b/c I don’t see the top teams dropping games like that. If I were Ballmer, I’d fire Lue. I don’t think he can get the most out of this squad. His comments this entire pre-season are at odds with what it takes to optimize this group. I’d also move Kawhi (but he’s probably not that movable).

But, every team can lose by 30. League has really great players, and every starting NBA roster can get hot.

However, focusing on our team, is Coach Lue is going to do some ridiculous small ball nonsense that loses us more games?

    TBH, not hoping too much.

Flip, Kessler and Lauri probably have average to below average athleticism and they were blowing by our guys with ease. It was quite disheartening to watch and made me question why I spent $110 on the Fan Dual subscription to watch this shit show.

The POA defense by DJJ was non-existent which is not surprising at all since he isn’t that goof of a POA defender. He’s a good overall defender but not at POA. If POA defense is truly the reason to have JC come off the bench than that POA defender should be Dunn not DJJ.

Another thing that was quite bad was our defensive rebounding which again is not surprising at all when you have two wings playing against two seven footers. Although the Jazz are an outlier with their size, I feel that the rebounding issue will plague us all year if we continue with a front court of DJJ and KL. LF talked about positional size but Ty decided that it doesn’t matter when you play a team starting (3) seven footers and 6′ 7″ shooting guard. The dude just can’t help himself.

Maybe we will get lucky and hear that Ty was wrapped up with Chauncy in this gambling conspiracy and we will get a new coach that understands playing small with unathletic guys doesn’t work anymore in today’s NBA.

Good 3 pt shot D requires effort, quickness and commitment. And, I think that older players evolve into a “hope they miss” kind of 3 pt D mindset. It was evident last nite, at least.
