I really like teams better that play more relaxed defense to let Steph have great games, and then make fewer shots against us.”

They gave a LOT of mediocre players a LOT of easy looks but had Steph on ice all night. It’s a viable strategy (they won the game, after all) but the interior defense just needs to be a little better to make up for it and the offense needs to be better as well. Without 19 turnovers the Clippers could play the same exact defensive game, give up a couple less transition buckets, score a couple more times on the other end, and a 7-point margin quickly turns into the teens.

A Dub’s poster sed that he hates watching the Clips “brand of basketball” but didn’t explain why. I’ve found the team more watchable this year. What’s this guy getting at?

Which reminds me, Serge has perfected the art of the turnaround hook where his spins 180 to get it off.

Finally saw the “death” lineup – PG/LK/KL/MM/SI, if only briefly. He also had PG and Kawhi with the bench. But still reverted to the 3 guard lineup alongside MM and Zu.

Makes it pretty interesting how they’ll respond on Friday. I actually expect it to be even harder to sweep teams over the season.

Only problem is when it comes to injuries. It’s not really fair to have a team play multiple times if they’re missing a key piece to a relatively minor injury. Like how the Lakers got 2 games against Memphis missing Ja Morant. Really can’t predict these things, and likely you get the same variance with injuries anyways over the course of a season, just makes it more pronounced, especially if you have series against teams you may be competing for playoff positioning with and tie breakers that come with that.

The negative for me was that it seemed GSW/Kerr figured out how to get to the rim with a favorable one on one matchup too many times. The help just didn’t seem to want to come.

Very slow start again but luckily slow for both teams. Really nice to see MM back in the swing. His 18 minutes translated into 0 mins for Mann and 2Pat. Those guys will get their chances but this has to be a lil discouraging for them.

KL: He really wanted this one in the 4th. Nice to see him take over and hit from his spots. Very strong player. Watch out Lakers.

I’m glad the guys are being unselfish and trying to move the ball around, but it feels like they’ve had a lot of plays where the ball handler gets into the paint, but instead of taking it in for the shot or kicking it back out to the perimeter, they attempt to pass it to a teammate who’s also in the paint (usually Zu or Ibaka), but who’s surrounded by defenders. Even for the best passers in the league it’s tough to squeeze passes to teammates in the paint when there are defenders around…and we don’t have like a LeBron or Jokic-level passer on the team. I hope they continue with the passing and the ball movement, but I also hope they cut down on these unnecessarily risky passes – either take the shot or whip the ball back out to the perimeter and reset.

Overall great win though, and props to Kawhi and co. for pulling through late (past iterations of the Clips would’ve fallen apart when the Dubs took the lead late), and props to the Dubs for hanging tough and showing that they’re not the doormat that they were all of last year and for the first couple games this season. The Pacific division is stacked this season, man.

Morris supposedly asked to come off the bench. Great to see ‘buy in’ from him.
