Harden with 5 TOs–that’s the game right there–don’t care how effed up Russ’ shots were. James was due a bad game–he now knows what the Lakes can bring.
This is gonna sound silly but it almost seemed as if Lue felt sorry for Ham’s predicament — losing streak/hot seat — and so tilted the game his way. I’m sure that this win has cooled off Ham’s seat considerably.

Agree with Harden/Russ/PG needing to take games more seriously. I feel like this was a productive loss. The clear takeaway for me is that Mann needs to be more aggressive on offense and that’s been clear to me for weeks. If they push him to take more shots, we’ll keep improving. Hopefully that happens starting tonight.

One silver lining is the quick turnaround–it’s should be really interesting to see how the team responds, and what kind of focus and force they bring tonight against Phoenix.

Lakers were extra hungry, and I had a bad feeling as soon as the gold and black started settling in and they were able to erase the early Clipper advantage. You got the sense right away that big shots would fall for the Lakers, Lebron and AD were on point, that the team wouldn’t be broken and pathetic.

Clipper vibes seemed just the opposite. Slightly dumbfounded when shots didn’t fall, losing focus and turning the ball over. It makes a big difference when Kawhi is a bit off. All the noted elements contributed, including TMann passing up a few good opportunities, turnovers, Russ taking the bait. When the Lakers punched back the Clips seemed to assume that things would come around, or maybe not, but they weren’t quite able to tighten up in time.

The Lakers really needed this game. Good for them, I guess. Clippers didn’t need it so much, not at all, but the big issue for us citizens now is seeing how they respond.

PG played great for the a lot of the game, but he ultimately ended the night with a pretty mediocre 8/18, including a handful of head scratching decisions to ISO against AD… which went poorly almost every time, except when he smoked a layup against him.

Regarding a defensive matchup against LeBron, I feel pretty comfortable with Kawhi taking that on in games that matter more.

He wasn’t playing that well and had actually killed our comeback momentum when the ball was going through Harden/PG and got to Norm who was lighting it up. Harden had figured it out by then but Kawhi kept possession of the ball for too long and stagnated the offense. We missed shots when Kawhi left the court but the Harden and Norm shots were good ones. PG sought the best defender instead of playing to the match up.

Zu deserved this one, he was incredible! I also really liked PG’s game, looking at both ends, he was better than Kawhi who didn’t give us enough offense and especially: he missed the big shots.

T-Mann perfectly alright. Harden: lacked aggression, way too many turnovers. Russ: didn’t like his last 3 because he had a driving lane. Lacked the usual impact defensively. Bad game, except for the zero turnovers and a couple of defensive plays. Norm: missed everything, unaware of the shot clock, bad first stint. Stepped up big time when it really mattered but then unfortunate on one attempt and high shot difficulty on the last one. Because the first stint really, really hurt us, an underwhelming game overall. Talking about hurtful for the team: Theis and Coffey, especially next to each other, had zero impact tonight and were in way over their heads. Total nosedive rather than being somewhat of a replacement.

Ty: defense alright. Seems to have emphasized pace at halftime, good and absolutely necessary. I liked that he went all offense after we were down 10 and Norm actually got the ball. But the offense never came through, we didn’t adjust well, second units were bad, Kawhi sitting in crunch time and a bizarre use of timeouts and challenges. Not good enough.

Other notes: too many turnovers as a team. Good work on the offensive glass, very poor converting second-chance opportunities.

I can absolutely live with this one IF we beat Phoenix. It’s the more important game. If not, losing games like these might make the difference between a 2/3 seed and 4 or 5.
