See this is your problem right here. I’m not commenting on here the way folks would on Twitter or Reddit. NBA discourse on those platforms is basically trash – I go there for memes and that’s basically it. Nobody HERE thinks Zu is more than a good role player.

Actually we disagree on that last part – upgrading from a role player to an All-Star level guy is really friggin’ hard.

Regarding Myles Turner, I dunno that Indiana actually takes Mann + 2030 1st for Myles – the salaries don’t match (they’d probably have to also be willing to take Norm and add some other pieces), and it looks like they’re actually trying to win now.

The worst part about this is that Mann is gonna help with small ball, causing Franks dumb ass to not get a fuckin center & 4. Everyone is gonna get in Ty, & they already have, but it’s on the front office to fill the teams needs & they NEED a center & 4. I don’t wanna hear about Brown. The guy is not ready & doesn’t deserve to play over PJ. When PJ has been out there in real lineups, he’s looked solid. Yes you want him to hit his shots but he brings alot more to the table than that. His IQ matters & it shouldn’t be overlooked, even though it is! Have some patience with him & the Harden integration cuz it’s gonna take time, moreso now without Plumlee

Do you listen to pods or read Twitter? lol dudes go above & beyond to try & talk up zu as if he’s that guy! They make every excuse in the world to deflect blame. Again, he’s been the same player since he got here, hasn’t improved. His best attribute is his availability, which is actually huge & matters but performance trumps all that shit!

There’s PLENTY of guys who are an upgrade & in not even talking about the “stars”. We agree that he’s a role player with limitations, that’s not hard to replace, AT ALL!

If this team is serious, they need to move on from him & go after Myles Turner, it’s that simple! If you need to trade Mann & the ’30 1st, you do it! What this team also needs to do is pick & choose who they want to play, Norm or Bones, cuz you can’t play both! Finding a taker for Norm is gonna take some serious work cuz he has one of the worst contracts in the league! Sad, cuz he can play & be a REAL contributor

Also, Kobe Brown should be the perfect small ball 5 for T-Lue.
Strong, (moderately) agile for his size, can shoot/pass/rebound/steal/block. And looks like a really smart guy.

On RJ & Frye show, he ask them about how to be a good “Role Player” in the league.
You can add self awareness and maturity in his skillset. Dude will have a long and successful career.
Hope he get his chance. The vets should vouch for him to play.

I think Blake could still help. He mostly played in lineups that have extremely similar skillsets to our players – and most of those lineups were positives. Furthermore, he’s smart, gets additional stops sometimes based on it. Third, there’s at least a slither of hope he can hit a 3 at times. Four, sound box outs, strong enough, helps on the glass. When given the choice between heavy minutes for Diabate or Blake, I’d still go Blake.

This team badly needs a tall guy who can shoot and play playoff minutes though, even more so after the trade. Look around the league… We’re one of the few relic teams without a stretch big option (even Golden State has one in Saric and we have nowhere near the offensive system of them). Sabonis starts shooting 3s again for a reason, Giannis is trying as a non-shooter because they recognise how important it is. We have 3 traditional centers alongside basically 6 guys who excel when given space…

Yup. Zu needs to step up big time. That includes staying healthy, out of foul trouble, more decisive and smarter on offense while playing heavy minutes. An incredibly tough ask. I fear we’re gonna see a lot of small ball (with a roster that is less equipped for it now) rather than finding another capable big quickly.

OKC is not gonna do that. They aren’t desperate and they aren’t in a hurry. Sam Presti is patient, he got a vision and he’s all about the team culture. Chet is perfect for what they’re building and Dort is an extremely valuable role-player who does the little things at a level nobody else on that roster could, before or after a Kawhi trade. They are not mortgaging their future and if any of their most talented youngsters is traded, I think it’s Giddey.
