No shaking of said apple cart. We can make a small peripheral move.

If Zu, Plumlee and Theis are all healthy, I think the need will be a 3-4 type that can play some D, rebound and shoot a couple of corner threes.

Zu has proven that having a big present at a all times in the lineups makes a difference for everyone.

Therefore, a potential move doesn’t need to be a starter level player or pemanent small ball five, just a defensive insurance move.

I am all in for Kobe and Amir getting opportunities for non-garbage time minutes but an extra wing, can’t hurt.

Something a bit different than what I have previously recommended, could be Matis Thybulle. He won’t need to play a lot, just a RoCo type player that can up the defensive intensity when needed.

Yea credit where credit is due – Ty did the right thing by benching a grizzled veteran (despite his public complaints) and the team is better off for it.

I like Bones a lot more than Norm too, especially on this roster. But the reality is that Norm is too hot to not play. His efficiency is staggering. While I’d love to see Bones get more minutes, I’m starting to get hopeful that Norm builds some trade value and we can flip him for a solid pf before the deadline, which would open up the perfect spot for Bones. Bones and Norm splitting minutes would be bad for everyone at this point.

We’ve gone from playing some of the most depressing basketball in the 213 era (with chemistry and overall performance looking awful despite being almost fully healthy) to some of the most encouraging basketball in the matter of weeks. I’m trying to temper my expectations, but the reality is that we finally have an amazing point guard to bring together the disparate pieces we’ve been working with for years now. Kawhi and PG are elite talents, but have always resorted to taking turns playing iso ball. Russ helped with this when he joined the team last year by initiating the offense and creating some movement/flow, but even Russ came with some pretty glaring deficiencies. Harden is the one of the most ideal fits for Kawhi/PG across the league and it’s starting to show. Ty is finally exhibiting some discipline in the line ups and it’s translating in wins and most importantly, blossoming chemistry. Russ is still finding ways to add value doing his thing off the bench. Theis gives us some big man versatility to change up our style of play. And Norm Powell’s efficiency is so hot that I almost forgot about all the ways he can hurt us.

Things are feeling pretty good and I’d argue we still have some pretty significant upside within the roster if Mann can start heating up. I think for Terance, I’d like to start seeing his FG attempts get into the 12-15 range. I still believe he has a high ceiling (maybe borderline all-star at some point in his career) and that the best way for him to achieve this ceiling is by starting to look to score. With so many things clicking right now, I’d love to focus some attention on developing Mann into a real option on offense. His passing game is pretty good. If we can pair that with some scoring, we would be able to generate a lot more space and clean looks for Harden/Kawhi/PG. Mann is our most athletic player. If we can get him going, it would totally change the way teams would have to play us.

Apparently Boston, OKC, and Dallas are interested in Isaiah Stewart (source: https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/274004/Celtics-Thunder-Mavericks-Have-Shown-Interest-In-Isaiah-Stewart). I think we should be interested as well – Coffey and Kobe are fine for now, but Beef Stew feels like he’d be a better fit and he’s still young. Given how much of a dumpster fire Detroit is, and how desperate they are for veteran leadership, feels like some combination of PJ, Plumlee, and Boston could be enough to get a deal done.

Yeah, Morris and Tucker are very different players, and that phrase got rounded off for effect. PJ showed good hustle and obvious gravity on the defensive end, but he was critically wasted space on offense. Morris and his 65 starts and 1826 minutes (28pg) was so much more complex, distressing, and discussed at length here. But the fear was that Lue would insist on keeping Tucker in the rotation and playing him 20 minutes a game. The eleven game sample, which resulted in all of 14 points on 14 shots, and 29 rebounds in 173 minutes, was dark and harrowing. It was good to get past it, and I give Lue credit for that.
