Latest is Brogdon coming to the Clips with Porzingis to to Boston. Definitely thought that Boston’s glut of guards could be a partner for the Clips before CP was available. Brogdon would be a great fit… when healthy. Interesting.

I probably would’ve preferred just getting Porzingis for ourselves, with CP filling the point guard role, but maybe both were not possible. Brogdon was definitely high on my list of guys I wanted so will be interesting if it just takes Morris and filler to get that done.

They would still have EJ’s contract to trade before the guarantee date.

I wonder how a “wink wink” deal could get done. They’ll “only” buyout CP if they get what they want for Porzingis.

EJ goes in the Porzingis deal saving them a ton of money right away, Morris to match salary, 30th pick, Boston, maybe 2 2nd round picks. Maybe still not enough in this scenario as you’re essentially trading for both Porzingis and CP. Maybe a future 1st would be needed as well. Seems like there is decent interest in Porzingis around the league.

Clips get Porzingis and CP agrees to come on a minimum after the buyout.

While I agree that a young team can be a ton of fun to watch, you have to see that the vast majority of people come out to see stars and winning basketball. I became a Clipper fan because I enjoyed watching young athletic, run-and-gun teams more than the superteam across the hall. But Clippers were definitely not filling up stadiums during those days, and sadly they probably wouldn’t either today.

While Ballmer is rich enough to maybe not care about sell out crowds. I’m sure he still thinks it would be nice to have a competitive team in the new arena. Nothing like Playoff basketball even if it’s with the same kind of tired out team you’ve seen the past 5 years.

I’m thinking we take a flyer on Simmons. We’d prob be able to get assets for taking his contract. Ben Simmons’ contract is up before we get our picks back so we can still blow it up if we feel like it later.

Even if that’s all it costs, that team stinks. Too old, too slow and too brittle. The team would be better with Russ instead of CP (or both as you pointed out), but even that team wasn’t going to be competitive last year. How would it be better this year with everyone being a year older?

This is exactly how i feel. We are 100% going to get older this year. Might as well add on CP before we blow it up. At least it’ll look good on paper. It’s going to be a really rough couple years coming up though.

Dude I’m game for a lot of conspiracy theory discussions, but I can’t get on board w/ the “Kawhi didn’t actually tear his meniscus” theory. It’s a super common, super easy to diagnose injury – I’d be absolutely shocked if this were true. At this point, given how cautious he is with his injury management, it wouldn’t surprise me if we didn’t even see Kawhi play until like December/January.
