• Play the original starting lineup: Russ-PG-Kawhi-Mann-Zu. Why? Rekindle the PG-Russ duo; keep Russ engaged; Russ is in better shape than Harden and is a better 2 way player; elevate Mann and give him the role that was promised and the one the team needs.
• Second Unit v1: Harden + Norm + Coffey + Kobe-Brown + Moussa. Why? Harden needs to get in shape and dominate the ball. Clips also need to slow the game down w/the 2nd unit, reduce the # of opposition possessions to avoid what happened to them in the last min of Q1 v Dallas. Harden can do this, get into his bag, get to the line and keep the opponent off rhythm. Norm can also be effective in such a role at the #2. This lineup also has size and protection for Harden/Bones w/Coffey, Kobe and Moussa. All this unit has to do is guard the 3 pt line and go win loose balls/rebounds. It doesn’t need strong POA defense so long as Harden is doing his thing at the other end.
• Second Unit v2 (staggered): Harden + Bones + Kawhi + (Kobe Brown or Mann) + Zu. Zu gets help on the weak side. Kawhi plays the #3 on D. Bones gets to cook a little

The big difference is that Coffey, Kobe and Moussa play real minutes and provide the youth, physicality, size and connector play we need. Norm’s role is diminished b/c he has been made redundant by Harden. PJ Tucker goes to the deep bench.

They have a worse roster than last year and absolutely no lineup continuity yet still, they grind out their wins. We – we’re just talking ever since the trade and being out of shape or not trying is excused and tolerated.

Coaching and GMing take different skills. The Pat Rileys who can do both at an elite level are a very rare exception, not the rule, and we’ve kept trying it anyway with guys who weren’t even good at coaching. It’s like the Clippers go out of their way to do everything as backwards as possible.

The stone cold reality is that this era has been over since COVID hit. No COVID and I think that team would’ve won a title or at least made it to the Finals. I also don’t think Kawhi and PG were ever a good fit w/ one another and Kawhi just wanted another superstar, fit be damned. What’s sad is Kawhi and SGA would’ve been an insane tandem.

Oh well. Currently this is a 6-10 seed (6 in the best of cases) and will wash out in the play-in/Round 1 and we’ll be left w/ a bunch of olds and no future.

I understand that the roster is imbalanced but Ty isn’t even trying to alleviate some of that imbalance with his lineup choices. We didn’t need to see 4 Guards + PJ to know that lineup would not work. Anyone with two brain cells would have known that.

Ty and the FO need to get on the same page and if they can’t, then the FO needs to get rid of Ty before it is too late. Move Westbrook to the bench, Start Harden at PG, return KL and PG to their natural positions and either start T Mann or Kobe Brown at the PF spot with Big Zu at Center. The offense is clunky and the defense sucks becuz everyone except Russ and Zu are playing out of position.
